We went out for a special meal... and that is just what we got! We ordered the drill, which is the sit back, relax and be surprised because you have no idea what you are in for. I could give a breakdown of the dishes,...but it would not help you, because yours will be different, and without question this four course made for you meal will never be the same, but it will be great and leave you full. Something to showcase this would be our entree, a spin on a surf n’ turf which was a salmon wrapped in rice paper with charred leaks and beautifully cooked duck breast with a rice pilaff and it was exceptional! We had an amazing server whom had no idea what we were getting, however made a good wine recommendation based on what we may get and it fit the bill! If you want to have an amazing meal and feel adventurous this is a must in Halifax! Plus, the back area is just super cool to sit in!More

Fascinating historical building setting with great food and exceptional service. After dinner went to the bar for a post dinner drink and listened to some great live jazz.

We had our anniversary dinner there last night. Wonderful seating in a stone alcove, with a simply fantastic server who started us off with glasses of bubbly and made the whole night special. Chef Brian made edible magic for us last night. Wonderful oysters (you...HAVE to try the torches oysters—-think oysters Rockefeller, the rock star version). Atlantic Halibut dome to perfection and a dirty rice that was unbelievable. Mushroom pappardelle modified by adding lobster—-our request, handled beautifully. This isn’t our first trip to Press Gang, and time and again, the mains have been creative, packed with flavour, and never just “good enough”. There’s a passion that finds it way onto your plate at the Press Gang. That passion was clear when Chef Brian personally came to chat with us at the end of the evening (we had never met him before, but are very glad we did!). All in all, it’s our favourite Halifax restaurant. A must-do every time we’re travelling to the city.More
