Dropped in for a late supper and had a super time. Staff are fast on their feet - I think they had wings - and the food was hot and delicious. Since the restaurant caters to all sorts, the staff should be a bit more aware of NS history and when someone helps them out, saying "whatever" in response is... More

Of the fine dining restaurants we visited in Halifax this was by far our favourite. Located within The Carleton, which besides two churches, is the oldest building in Halifax. Originally built for Richard Bulkeley, an influential administrator in Halifax, it saw many visits by King William IV as well as Prince Edward (father to Queen Victoria). The Press Gang has... More

I visited the Press Gang for a whisky tasting with some friends. The atmosphere is cozy and historic. It's a must visit in Halifax. The food was incredible and only outdone by the service. The lamb lollipops were cooked to perfection on a bed of garlic mash with asparagus and smoked/roasted carrots. The mini Press Gang banana split for dessert... More

I went to the Press Gang during open city on Saturday. I had their Kangaroo Slider and a pint of Nine Lock Blonde. The slider was freshly prepared and had a good taste despite finding that I am not a huge fan of Kangaroo meat. It was nice to see them participate. They have a pretty cool atmosphere and bar... I really liked the old pub atmosphere along with the delicious food and drink. Service is decent, although our waiter disappeared to serve a party and we had to flag someone else down. The oysters are expensive, but really good. Overall, a very nice experience.

This place is huge on oysters and scotch - lots of variety for the oyster and scotch lovers. I'm neither so I can't comment on this. The service was amazing and my lobster was succulent - best I've ever had. My husband and I think they flavour the steam somehow. The meat was infused with a very slight garlic or... More

The Press Gang is without question the best whisky bar in the region. It boasts an exhaustive range of whiskies form Scotland, Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere but where it excels is in the incredible selection of single malts whiskies many of which are rare and hard to find. Add to all of that a knowledgeable and attentive wait staff... More

The restaurant has really good ambiance as soon as you walk in that makes you feel good. The menu is diverse, and the food is very tasty. One of our group has sever seafood allergy, so asked for her dinner to be carefully prepared to avoid contact with shellfish...the restaurant made a special effort to do so. Would most definitely...
