Went with my family, a party of 6, and we were really surprised on how good the food was! We had the pork belly adobo, the chicken wings and the arancins as starters, and they were amaaaaazing! Congratulations to the chef and his team! Can’t...More

Well Hello and Thank you 'Easterntreker'! Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves. We've had a recent run of some terrific Artists in house. This, coupled with our new Chef and his fabulous food, is making for a great combo. Jen

The downtown location is excellent and will only get better after the Argyle Street rehabilitation is complete. The venue is intimate and the sound quality is very good. The service is excellent and the new menu is very good. The entertainment is wonderful. We saw...More

Hello "nwaynesworld"! Thank you so much for the "shout out". As we keep moving toward our re-build, it will be important to hear from folks about what they like and don't like. Lots of great shows lined up for the end of summer and into...More

The short version is I figured out why The Carlton is struggling for business. (For the whole story read beyond this paragraph). They clearly don't understand how good customer service works and they don't appreciate good paying customers (in a mostly empty bar). I'm saddened...More

Hello dvinson, I can only say that this was extremely painful to read, and what you describe is not reflective of how we wish to treat our guests. If you had not written this, I would not know, nor would our new owner. We do...More

I used to love this place, but the new owners have done very strange things to it. The menu is weak and frankly trying too hard. I've tried it twice. The first time my meal was mediocre at best. The last time I ordered a...More

Hello Lara, First let me apologize for the length of time it has taken to respond. It took some doing to "claim" the Trip A page for The Carleton, as our new owner takes over. We are here, quietly working on many things before we...More

I haven't been here for a while however the last experience was amazing. Food, service, ambiance was so inviting. Typical of Nova Scotian Hospitality! It was really calming and nice.

Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of The Carlton, live music every night, but the layout of the place is not great. It's really small and tight and most angles you can't even see the stage. It needs a major redesign but that's...More

Always keep an eye on what's happening at The Carlton. They get some of the best music performers from all over Canada. The atmosphere is intimate for music and no matter where you sit you are never far from the stage. The food is often...More

Best bar in town to hear live music. Great service, excellent selection of wine, beer & cocktails, and great food--delicious, large portions. Have dinner and drinks and stay for the music; shows usually start at 8pm.
