A very nice mini putt in Shediac. It looks easy but it is challenging! Great acadian decor and very friendly staff!

Girlfriend and I stopped to eat after driving from Saint John to Hopewell Rock on way to Charlottetown. Was quite hungry and got quite a fill here. Liked the lobster club and clams, but the highlight was the rapee poutine (pictured). This is nothing like...the poutine you know and apparently takes 4 hours to make. Kind of like a mash potato ball with salted pork center. Very, very unique and worth a try - really cheap at around $4. Guy at counter was patient explaining to me what the dishes were.More

Thanks for your nice comment. We are very happy you enjoyed your experience with us and glad you liked our acadian poutine râpé! Safe travels!

We had the lobster club delicious as well as the poutine rapee. The poutine was so different from what I was expecting but it was delicuous. Wish we would have had room to try mire Acadien food as it all sounded so good.

We ordered the lobster roll platter. Staff was friendly however the lobster rolls were a disappointment. There was some mayo at the bottom of the bun, which was toasted on both sides, topped by a piece of lettuce and topped with plain lobster which didn’t...have a lot of flavor. Now I know that “plain” lobster makes me sound a little ungrateful. However I expected a little lemon juice, perhaps some celery and mayo mixed with it was the proper way to serve a lobster roll. There were enough fries on the platter for a small army and I’m afraid much of it went uneaten, though they were tasty.More

A nice treat for the family, having fried clams, fish and chips and scallops. My wife and I always grab a clam plate and fish and chip and split it with our youngest daughter. The prices are always fair and you get more than enough...in your plate. It's one of Shediac's best hidden secrets for local seafood.More

Never tried Acadien food before but after trying it here I am beyond impressed!! Not only is the Acadien food amazing they have hands down the best cheeseburgers (and I have tried a lot of different places). My youngest daughter(who is one of the fussiest...eaters I know) absolutely loves their fish cakes and the fish. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming. Its also nice how you can see your food being made. I would highly recommend this place to anyone :) :)More

Drive by (many times) every trip to cottage in the Pointe for the past 8 years, and always had intentions to stop in. Last week I drove by, turned around, went back and went in, and ordered one of my favorites - Clams and Fries...combo. There are several restaurants in the area that offer this great selection. For quality and quantity I would rate this one very high. Price slightly high, but what the heck - 2 kilometers from the cottage. Staff very friendly, wait time for order (take out) excellent, have a very extensive menu for a small take-out, eat in diner. It's these small obscure places that will surprise you for quality. Will definitely return.More

Shediac is supposedly the "lobster capital of the world" so we ordered lobster rolls. The roll was nicely toasted and had large chunks of lobster meat in it, but was a bit dry for my taste. I asked for lemon and was told there wasn't...any. I also asked for ice to put in my water and again, was told they didn't have ice. Who doesn't have ice!More

What can I say I was raised on this food and it brings back memories of growing up in a not rich time but food was made with what you had especially potatoes. Like their poutines and beignet and every thing else. You get full...fast because it's good and tasty. We take different things so we can share. Good Acadian food.More

I am an American of Acadian descent. When visiting Shediac I try to stop in to Menu Acadien at least once during my visit. During Labor Day weekend I visited and ordered the Poutine Rapee. It was very good. Good sized and tender. Apparently they...had just become ready to serve. (Anyone who has ever made this dish knows how labor-intensive it is and how long it takes to make!). The salt pork center was a bit dry. I attribute that to today's overzealous persecution of fat in the diet. A little more meat would not have hurt either. That said, it was very tasty and they even had brown sugar available........... My parents made them the same way except more moist, AND, added salted scallions to the pork as a variation. Yum! Next summer I will try some other menu items. The service was very accommodating. I was very amused by Ericsar's experience as I had the exact opposite experience while visiting Québec about 30 years ago. I stopped at a local restaurant and saw Poutine on the menu and, thinking it was Poutine Rappe, was horrified to find a plate of gooey French Fries being set down in front of me. Gross! But I don't remember being that angry.........................More

This was my first experience with Acadien food, but I found it delicious. We had poutine rapee (a sort of dumpling of mashed and shredded potato formed around a ball of pork and usually eaten with sugar (ask for brown sugar), fricot (a flavorful chicken...stew with potatoes, carrots and summer savory) and fishcakes (made with potatoes). This place is not fancy: paper plates, take-out, etc., but it the staff was friendly and very helpful. My son has celiac, so I was delighted to learn that Acadian food generally does not use flour.More
