Good food! Creative menu! Awesome banter and fun! :) Love the 2 owners. Don't go if you are offended by curses though but otherwise it's a must do in Vancouver.

We were there as a family with 2 children in our group so we were shocked at the language. We weren't there 3 minutes before the F bomb was dropped several times. It's ok for adults I think but children shouldn't have to hear this. I asked our server to watch his language around our kids & he did try!... More

After reading so many online reviews I took my best friend to The Elbow Room cafe for breakfast. Honestly I was worried I'd have rude and personal insults hurled at me the second I walked through the door but that wasn't it at all. If you don't like cussing don't go. It's a very simple and clearly outlined message. We... More

We went to the restaurant not knowing what we were getting into. As we stood waiting to be seated we heard some swearing and sarcasm. We finally "got it" We had a lot of laughs! The service was great, the serving sizes were huge. The owner went above and beyond! If we had one more day, we would have definitely... More

AMAZING AMAZING! This is a diner where you need to go with a sense of humor and thick skin. They lovingly banter with you and give you a bad time while they serve you up one of the most delicious breakfasts ever! We were so lucky that the day we went it was not busy and Peter was our waiter... More

This place is a Vancouver classic loaded with neighbourhood character. If you want to go to a breakfast cafe that is predictable and just like the last 100 places at which you ate, then there's a Denny's a few blocks west on Davie St.

I'm so happy I found this gem. If you get easily offended it's probably not the place to be for you, but if you're having a good humor and open for a laugh you'll love it. The waiters were so funny and friendly. They've a large variety of food (savoury and sweet). The quality of the food was excellent and... More

I was looking for a local hole in the wall close to my hotel and the Elbow Room fit this bill... I arrived a few minutes prior to opening so looked up reviews and menu. Based on the reviews I was prepared to be insulted from the moment I stepped in. Maybe they are just not warmed up at 9am... More

Had heard about this place and always wanted to see for myself. Was everything I expected PLUS the food was really good and super quick! My sons new nickname- sucky sucky thanks to a hickey he walked in with. Will be going back next time I visit Vancouver. Thanks for the unique experience.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
