The in room meals we ordered for dinner were kind of sloppy. We each ordered a clubhouse sandwich and a salad. The sandwiches looked kind of slapped together, but the salads were nice. The next morning I did quite enjoy my baccus breakfast, but my...partner was a bit disappointed with her avocado toast.More

A friend and I met for a socially distanced dinner and were impressed by the quality of the Covid precautions as well as the regularly excellent dinner options offered here at Bacchus. We ended up choosing the Dine Out Menu and enjoyed three courses of...vegetarian and omnivore options - the beef shank was particularly tender and the desserts and cocktails were strong. Excellent, attentive service with good timing and perfect for a long awaited chat with a friend.More

The Wedgwood Hotel & Spa is one of Vancouvers star luxury hotels chucked amidst the garden and waterfalls of the trendy Robson Square. Draped in flowers, fine antique pieces and original artwork, the property provides close proximity to the swanky shopping brands, the likes of...Tiffany's, Chanel and more. It is home to a stellar eating and drinking establishment; namely, the Bacchus Restaurant and Lounge. The Wedgewood has only one restaurant and lounge and although the hotel flies solo in this regard, these establishments are very very good as they are frequent award winners and subject to a bevy of culinary accolades. The units compliment the luxurious Wedgewood Hotel with ornate furnishings in keeping with the stateliness of the hotel. A large canvas depicting Bacchus himself (Greek God of wine and revelry) presides over the lounge as if its mascot. The Lounge is perhaps the best bar in the city and such a great place to people-watch while sipping crafted cocktails. My poison was a Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger and lime)...it doesn't matter what country the mule comes from......there is always a shocking kick.....meme choise. On the eatery side, the menu sports a 'Canadian take' on French cuisine. Product and ingredients are regionally sourced so expect dishes like Pacific Coast seafood, Alberta beef, regional venison and such......a la Francois. Space-wise the Restaurant and Lounge are connected at the hip....separated by a piano where musical ditties inject an entertainment factor into the Bacchus environment. With the notoriety of the restaurant, I felt it was my duty to diligently peruse the menu in search of my top choice, but with award winning food like this, there would be little chance of a mistake. For a daring starter would it be spicy crusted Albacore tuna or pan-seared Rougie foie gras with brandy cherries and pineapple pistachio or something else. I felt a little fishy so I went with the tuna...crunchy and vibrant taste sensations were really tuned into this dish. For the entree, I resumed my fish attraction with a miso maple glazed Sablefish...beautiful piece of fish.....I didn't know whether to stare at it or eat it...I succumb....so delicious. For dessert, puddings abound....I am a fan of brûlée's....so that was my selection..........a heavenly concoction. As a popular seasonal spin-off, the restaurant serves afternoon high tea which includes loose leaf tea, finger sandwiches, pastries and savoury cakes. You can upgrade your sitting to a Royal tea category (for a pretty penny) that can make you feel like your having tea with Queen in Buckingham Palace (God save the Queen). For a truly culinary (eating & drinking) experience, in warm and romantic surroundings with live musical entertainment throw in and great service to boot.........try the .............Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge..........Eat, Drink and Be Merry.More

Not formally, but this is a place where you can dress up and not feel out of place. I think one of the reasons we got such good service was because we were dressed nicely - a suit for me and a nice dress for my wife.
