Really nice pub, very wide choice of beer, very friendly service and helpful, good wine by the glass choice, staff very keen to help. All TV's showing baseball, a bit more variety could help - hockey? Rugby? Well located in gas town nice building.

Located in the heart of Gastown, this is very much a standard sports pub from the Donnelly pub group. Shows all Manchester Utd games and we were happy to find it was showing the Republic of Ireland v Wales game. Large pub with plenty of screens as well as a pool table. Friendly staff. Had lager for $5.

I'll admit that I wasn't sure walking in, but the surprise was on us. What a gem in Gastown. The brunch menu was varied, and we had the Chorizo Hash and the Crushed Avocado with Poached Eggs. First, no one has ever served me hash on a bed of peppery arugula, or poached eggs on avocado. Ever. What a tasty... More

We stopped in on a cool rainy day so all decided to try the chicken tortilla soup, definitely a hit, hubby had his 1lb of wings, really good and the kids split a sandwich and fries and were quite happy with those choices as well.

I chose this bar because of its menu and for my surprise, it was a mix between a restaurant, sports bar, bingo night, in general, a very entertaining place. It was very crowded, but we got a table very quickly, the food menu is mainly sandwiches, hamburgers, etc, and a large variety of beers. The service was good and at... More

For some reason we kept going back to this bar just for the people watching. This was one of the most interesting bars we went into while in Vancouver. They had Bingo one night, I think the prize was bourbon and a pitcher of beer! Very interesting.

I can't rate anything except to say that I waited by the Host Stand for about 5 mins, made eye contact with a few different servers....nobody came to seat me, the place looked full, there was a comedian, so it had a great feel...but sadly I left. Maybe next time....I just found it really odd, and somewhat awkward to be... More

Housed in the historic Dominion Grand Hotel (est. 1899) in Gastown, this pub was renovated in 2007 and retains its original tin-stamped ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass windows and railings. The rest of this storied room has been given a grand renovation, including a new sound system and jukebox, classic pub furniture and flatscreen TVs. A long-time favourite Vancouver watering hole, the Lamplighter is the city’s busiest pub for good reason: friendly service, honest local pub fare, a large selection of craft beer and cocktails, comprehensive sports programming, and talented DJs and live bands give the legendary Lamplighter its famed atmosphere.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
