So we got off to a very late start looking for dinner on Saturday night and had, unfortunately (or not), run out of most options. Calabash was close and had good reviews, so we headed there. What a lively scene we wandered into!! After an entertaining but COMPLETELY pointless 12 minute wait outside the door... which was staffed by one... More

Cocktails are AMAZING!! I booked this for myself, my husband and two friends. It was a joint birthday celebration and I have to say the staff were amazing. In particular Sarah (from Liverpool) was so so helpful from start to finish, I brought in my own cake and they served it up with candles and then boxed up the leftover.... More

This is the best Jamaican restaurant in Vancouver. The food is great and is reasonably priced. They have dance floor and music on the weekend.

Date night. Wanted to try something different. Great atmosphere, food was tasty and we'll presented. Terrific selection of rums! Server was knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Going back for the dancing another night.

Visiting Vancouver and stumbled across this place. The food was fantastic... the staff were lovely and friendly. If I lived closer I would certainly make my way through the menu! It's a must.

My girlfriend and I went to Calabash on a Friday for date night. I won't go into too much detail so all I can say is the food is amazing, the service is amazing, and the cocktails are amazing. We didn't realize there is dancing and music downstairs so next time we might check that out.

Brunch, ~12 noon. My wife and I each had the Calabash Brunch Platter: Two sunny side up free-range eggs, fried plantains, roasted cumin potatoes, fresh-cut fruit, with your choice of:Jerk pork belly, veggie patty or house-made jerk turkey sausage $13. The eggs were beautifully done, just perfect: slightly runny yolk but the whites perfectly cooked, but still tender. The fried... More

This place is a nice surprise in this neighbourhood. We loved the food, especially the chicken curry. What we did not appreciate was the server who gave us the bill while we were still eating and when we tried to finish the meal first she got the machine and waited next to us until we got the credit card out.... I give this place 3 1/2 stars. I would give it more stars if I was able to have a good chat with my friend without having to lean over our little table and raise our voices close to having to shout at each other. It's a great change of pace to enjoy spicy west indian food. The rum drinks... More

This lovely little restaurant serves beautiful, flavoursome food and the most amazing rum cocktails. Service with a big smile. Our waitress even took the time to show us the cellar underneath the restaurant where they host jam sessions and other music events. Unfortunately we not in town long enough to attend one of these sessions. Highly recommended.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
