We are local Nanaimo-ites and are regulars at the Crow & Gate. Can't recommend it enough! Atmosphere is amazing, whether you choose to sit inside or outside in the lovely garden. We generally choose inside as we like the dark, cozy interiors, the huge fireplace,...More

This pub is sooo cute and cozy in the winter and has beautiful gardens (and patio) to enjoy in the summer! Anytime we are passing Nanaimo we stop off at the crow & gate and are never disappointed! Consistent and always friendly service, delicious food,...More

Beautiful venue, fresh, local food, and great service with good prices! Try the Ploughman's lunch and the pecan pie with a Merrydale Cider! Delicious!

6 of us met there at 3 pm with the intention of having an early dinner. We wanted to sit outside, but tables were all taken, so we waited inside for about 20 min. to get an outside table. We ordered our dinner around 4:45,...More

Besides the beautifully manicured gardens that surround this very unique, English style pub, you have some of the best culinary delights found on Vancouver Island. Did I mention the delicious beer on tap? The service is great and the 'pub food' is the best around....More

We went there on the advice of a friend and we were not disappointed. This place probably is more authentic English pub than the ones in England now! There is a good selection of beers and the menu has a lot of English favorites like...More

It is basically self-serve, order at the bar. My crab cakes were uninspired but friend's salmon chowder a hit. We got there for a very late lunch and only then did it begin to clear out a bit. This place is hopping, filled with charm....More

Friends took us to this gem. First pub in BC. Authentic British style. Gorgeous setting with outdoor garden seating. They don't have an appies menu but they did have a lovely shareable plate of cheese, crackers and other goodies that we enjoyed with our pint....More

In English pubs you have to go to the bar to get drinks & order food, they are trying to replicate this & are doing a very good job, something a bit different for people that have not visited England. Our pub food has improved over the years & is probably still the most popular as don't pay silly restaurant prices, also pub staff don't expect tips !!
