I hadn't been here for years and that is a shame. We stopped by early on a wintery Wednesday and found the place empty. We had a quick look at the menu and decided on one order of chicken souvlaki and one of the roasted lamb. The chicken souvlaki came with a good sized Greek salad, tzatziki and rice pilaf.... More

Anytime I have been here, the food is spectacular! I have tasted many a calamari in Alberta and Yiannis has one of the best! The appetizers are more than filling. Try the calamari and melitzano.

I thought this restaurant was quite good and it was only a few steps down Whyte from the hotel we were staying at. The decor in the restaurant is very nice and the waitress was super. Menu was just as I had expected and the meal was wonderful.

The Athena platter! It is filling and tasty, and is definitely worth the price. Their appetizers are great; choosing 2-3 as your meal is also a good option, as I find myself craving them all and unable to choose only one. What I love about this restaurant is that you can make it a casual dinner with friends, or dress... More

We had planned a holiday celebration night out with friends and our visit to Yiannis was very disappointing. The service was painfully slow and our server could never be found. When we asked to speak to a supervisor, it took her 20 minutes to come over to our table and then she was full of excuses. Our food was not... More

I am sorry for your experience. I absolutely do not remember this incident. With the amount of phony reviews you should provide specific details about what you ate etc. It lends more credibility to the review. More

There were several large parties when we visited the restaurant. They were getting terrific service and they literally forgot about the rest of us. We had to continually hunt down someone to order more items and to actually get our food. Food was good for the most part, but the chicken and lamb were overcooked. Not the least bit satisfied... We are very sorry that you feel this way. We did buy you some appetizers when you came to complain. I guess this wasn't enough compensation. More

Went to Yannis on 21th of November with friends. We ordered appetizers (tzatziki, cheese spinach cake) first and they were very tasty. Main dishes were good too and meat was very flavoured. Also, our server was very nice and knowledgeable.

Went to Yianni's on Nov 10 with a girlfriend. The atmosphere was great and we sat by the window so we could people-watch on Whyte Avenue. We shared a Mezethes Platter which was more than enough food for two of us and very delicious. It is the atmosphere that is the best part of the restaurant though. It is very... More

We shared a 2 person platter and the food was good. Portions were fairly generous, tasty and cooked well. We'll likely be back.

A friday night, lots of tables available, but nice festive atmosphere. Order a Greek platter MEZETHES (plenty for two), that started with three dips and pita, followed by the second course of Greek salad, dolmades, meatballs, spanakopita, and kalamari. Ok, but nothing was great and the bread was stale, not good for the dips that were the best part of... More

We are very sorry that you were disappointed that we were not Greek enough. We work hard at being authentic in a multicultural country by employing a broad diversity of people. You seemed shocked that after complaining about dry bread we tried to fix this by replacing. It is unclear what we were supposed to do. More

Description
Yiannis serves Greek food that is inspired by traditional recipes and healthy living. Our chef, James Anast, tries to encompass every aspect of Greek cookery, from its inherent healthfulness, to its history and customs in our menu. We are located in our own building on trendy and historic Whyte Ave and have a warm and ambient room that evokes thoughts of the Mediterranean. To further enhance your dining experience there is belly-dancing on weekends and a beautiful Moroccan lounge in our lower floor for you to sip some tasty libations before or after your dinner.
