We went for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions. The food and service were amazing. Our server remembered us from the last time we were there. This is really a hidden gem.

I haven't posted anything in quite some time because posting negatives all the time gets old quickly. So here I am, posting something positive. I was at a loss as to where to take a friend for dinner in South Calgary, so I asked my...friend chef Michael if he knew anywhere. He recommended Alloy. I had not heard of it, so I thought I would check it out. I was immediately impressed. The website was easy to use, click on a button, here's the menu, another button , reserve a table. Menu, 8 appies, 6 entres and 3 deserts. Easy to decide when it isn't a 15 page menu. Service was amazing from the minute we walked in. We were early, but our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Our server, l believe his name was Peter, but it's hard to hear with the masks on. Tall friendly guy, you know who you are....He was great. Water, drinks, menus, recommendations. Courteous and professional. We ordered the tomato salad and steak tartare to start. The dressing on the salad was so good, and I can't remember having a better tartare. The home made crisp or tortilla it came on was sooooo good. We had the lamb and pork loin for dinner. Again, amazing. Delicious. What a great presentation. And lots of food. The pork was perfect medium, lamb looked great. Veggies and potatoes were spot on. The sauces. Now I have to try to recreate them at home. We were full, but desert was waiting. Yuzu cheesecake and flourless brownies. The cheesecake was tart and delicious. Never tasted a yuzu cheesecake before. So good. And the flourless brownies. Imagine someone being able to solidify really good hot chocolate. OMG. They were amazing. All in all, thanks to the entire staff for making the evening special just by being yourselves. I would definitely recommend and I'm sure we will be back to try some of the other dishes. The salmon sounded so good....It does cost a bit to eat here, but it's not extravagant and totally worth the money. I don't think you will be disappointed.More

This was my first visit to Alloy for a birthday celebratory dinner. Very impressive and very happy with the covid protocols in place. All the booths and tables were separated by full length plexiglass panels. Service was seamless, unobtrusive and professional. The food was amazing....our...starters were the shrimp tempura and the tuna tataki. Mains were the salmon and the shortrib. Great flavours and beautifully presented. We shared the tiramisu. Alloy has a very interesting wine menu and showcases eclectic wines from all over the world. One other attribute that we really liked - there was music but it really was background music....one could hear oneself speak! That is rare nowadays. I would definitely return.More

Great, great, great! It was good to be back. The booths have see-through plastic walls separating them, so it is very "private". Service was fantastic. I had the beef meatball appetizer and the lamb main. Both were fabulous. Loved the cheesecake too. The salad with...prosciutto was grand too apparently, as well as the shrimp tempura and gnocchi. The only slight negatives were that my friend's pork tenderloin was a bit overcooked and they did not appreciate the take on the tiramisu - I think they would have preferred classic Italian. Overall, everyone was thrilled.More

Had a family celebration at Alloy. This was our second visit and it did not disappoint us. Excellent, attentive yet unobtrusive service. Meals were beautifully presented and in generous portions, remarkable for a top end restaurant. Had an assortment of starters - gnocchis were magic....Mexican themedTenderloin main was juicy, steak was like butter and salmon was tip top. Somehow we had room for dessert. Accolades for each entry on the card. Heartily recommended establishment. So glad to see a busy dining room in these strange times.More

The last time we were at Alloy was quite a number of years ago and it was underwhelming for the price tag. This time around, probably helped by a very ample $150 GIFT CERTIFICATE we went out with friends and had a great meal all...around. Not the best restaurant in the city for the money, but overall we had good service and very decent meal (cocktails, appe, main and dessert). Might consider going again (even without a gift certificate to take the sting out of the bill(More

Surrounded by primarily industrial buildings, Alloy is a gem. Menu is not extensive, more curated. Last visit was a vegetarian lunch, with apple and brie salad (not much need to be said about brie) to start, with the truffle gnocchi (portion looks small, but very...rich decant tastes so it satisfies). Been here for dinner too, and enjoy the wine menu. Again, not an encyclopedia in size, but well curated to include old world, and new world.More

This places looks like it was once "cool", but the ambiance was tacky, fake cherry blossoms with mirrors and cinderblocks that look like it was "nice" in the 90's or early 2000's but is now dated. White collar crowd, not much energy in the restaurant....THE FOOD, over priced, low quality ingredients(veg, meat) unimaginative menu and presentation. It was REALLY expensive for the quality of the food. For what I paid I was seriously underwhelmed by the entire experience ( service included) If you are a foodie, do NOT go here. if you are the average Joe, it may satisfy you if your standards are very high.More

I was present with friends for a birthday dinner in October, the entrees and appetizers were delicious (desserts mediocre), but the service was insulting. The server (Jenn) treated us significantly differently after we did not order alcohol. She was condescending and cold. After paying the...bill, I found two charges of alcohol on the bill that were the same price as the desserts we had ordered. Alloy refunded the money at a later date, but two requests to speak to management/owner regarding our treatment by Jenn met no response.More

What a great lunch! We came here with work staff to celebrate the season. The decor is very airy and comfortable. Although it was very busy but our server was very attentive. The food was amazing. I had the lunch special that was rainbow trout...over forbidden rice and a cream sauce. OMG delicious. My colleagues loved their meals as well. For dessert I had the black sesame cake with coconut ice cream. Yes, more amazing. What can I say. Full five stars.More

Not formal but it's generally not appropriate to wear jeans in the classier restaurants although a lot of people do.

There must be some confusion. Alloy Restaurant is a single story building and I do not understand the reference to the "pineapple building" or water parks. There is no water park in the vicinity of Alloy.
