My daughter Kerry discovered this amazing pub with great beers, wine and a fantastic choice of food a few years ago on a quick visit to the Island. She has a mad English Pointer called Hector, so she had to stop and check it out. We had not booked it was 1.30 p.m. on a warm busy Sunday and the... More

Have visited the Pointer quite a few times before but never for Sunday lunch. Had visitors from the mainland who had heard of the Pointer so thought we'd take them there for Sunday lunch. Wow. It was amazing.!! We all had the Sunday roast, yorkies to die for, meat tender and very tasty and vegetables beautifully cooked. Desserts were delicious.... More

We had wanted to try this restaurant for a while and our friends made the booking. Unfortunately when we arrived there was no sign of our booking until it was found for the following week. However, we were squeezed in. Two of us had the goats' cheese starter which was very good. The mains were fine. Our only disappointment was... More

Did not like the fact that in the bar area where people were eating dogs were allowed. This is not acceptable when one is having a meal .i had to ask to be moved as the smell from a dog was putting me of my lunch .a shame as the food is so good .

Went here for dinner with 2 small children with special needs. Reserved a table inside after being told no tables available outside. When we arrived our table was right next to the bar, meaning that we were quite cramped in with several drinkers standing right next to our table. We ordered but the children were struggling so my wife went... More

With so much choice on the island for dining out, the list is endless. But top of the list is surely the pointer inn. Locals pub but visitors always made welcome. Serving fabulous food and fabulous service. Always a superb experience . Food is superb and the children's menu is fantastic. Always top of the list when visiting the island.... More

To be honest from reading all the positive reviews I thought the food would be better. It was just ok. Wasn't bowled over. Portion sizes are good but the taste wasn't that great. In our party we had a mixture of different meals. Everybody felt the same. Staff and service is excellent - shame about the food.

We came here for our last night's dinner before we had to return to the mainland from our holiday. We tried to call to book a table, but it was fully-booked for 5.30-7.30pm! On a Thursday night! They suggested for us to sit outside, where there is a bit of outdoor heating and there are some fleece blankets to place... More
