Well worth the visit and booking a table ahead of arrival to avoid disappointment. Food (quite pricey) but well cooked and served by pleasant staff

The Bistro doesn't look anything from the outside, in fact looks pretty plain on the inside. and is in one of the most isolated locations possible on Lewis and Harris (which is saying something). Don't let any of that fool you. The dinner we had...there was truly excellent - high quality seafood (in our case), beautifully cooked and beautifully presented. It's far from easy to get a table, and far from easy to get there. but well worth the effort. Highly recommended.More

The food was fantastic. Unfortunately this was let down by the terrible service. Waitress took our drinks order including 2 large Harris gins. They were served with grapefruit however no ice! Even after asking for ice none of the next drinks we asked for were...served with ice in them. Such a shame to have such great food and terrible drinks service. There didn't seem to be anyone running the restaurant, it was so unorganised. It was one of the best meals of the week but can't get over the service. It would make such a difference having someone run the restaurant and good bar staff only mixing drinks.More

Just a stunning meal - outside the restaurant doesn’t look much but go on in and you will be greated like an old friend Had the crab risotto to start with which was fresh clean and the bisque that was used to make the risotto...just added so much flavour. The halibut with local scallops and prawns was to die for - prawn and scallop cooked perfectly, halibut with crispy skin but fell away when went in with fork and crispy veggies to accompany. Finished with an iced cheesecake which was heavenly - so light, full of white chocolate flavour whilst remaining creamy in taste My wife has a garlic intolerance so was music to her ears that the chef didn’t use garlic - meant she could have what she wanted and it was lovely A nice touch for Chef to come out and check all was okay with the food. Add to this the great service, one of nicest meals I have hadMore

An indulgent treat for the tastebuds! Seems to specialise in seafood, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and the service was quite quick. Overall, a quirky place whose unassuming exterior belies a gourmet treat!

We always make a point of visiting here when we are in the area so we booked a table a few weeks ago. Lots of choice on the menu and also the specials board. We both started with Harris crab risotto which was delicious followed...by fillet and ribeye steaks. I fancied a dessert so ordered cheesecake. The food was amazing but the presentation is also top notch. The waitresses were busy but were very friendly and made time to chat with us. All in all an excellent meal in a pleasant atmosphere.More

Not a very Christian welcoming. Prices were astronomical yet portion sizes did not seem to reflect this. Lack of ingredient advertising which is difficult for someone with food allergies/sensitivies. Once the waitresses found out we were English, their attitudes towards us changed and we felt...incredibly uncomfortable. Would not consider eating here again.More

My second visit to this wonderful place and it did not disappoint my previous memory of it. Amazing menu of locally sourced food. The service and ambience are both fantastic. Would recommend you phone rather than email for table booking as with many places at...the moment, they are low of staff. Totally recommended if you are nearby on Harris or Scalpay.More

4 of us made a return visit to this wonderful cosy restaurant. The menu is unbelievable and it was difficult to choose what to eat as its all good, be it the locally sourced sea food of fillet steak....superb. Staff were very pleasant and attentive....The food was reasonably priced and we will certainly return.More

We were staying near Tarbert and enjoyed the drive to Scalpay. There are about 34 covers in the bistro with views of the loch. The menu is predominately seafood but steaks and vegetarian options are available. I had the shellfish bisque which was excellent. My...husband had crab risotto. Good sized portion-not too large. There was a strong taste of crab but nicely balanced. Main courses were turbot and halibut. Beautifully presented and cooked with interesting garnishes and sauces. Real quality fresh local food . The service was friendly but not slick. Good value evening meal. No lunches at present.More
