Our annual trip to QR wouldn't be the same without a trip to Que Fresco. Our most difficult decision is whether to come for breakfast, lunch or dinner--or maybe even two of the three, if we are lucky. This trip was devoted to breakfast, and as always it was perfect. Sitting under a breezy, shady palapa, enjoying fantastic huevos rancheros... More

We came for a wonderful dinner and then returned for a slightly less good lunch (isn't that always the way it is?) Our dinner was fantastic, great atmosphere, wonderful food, entertaining love music. We had the guacamole, ceviche, and a few other things. At lunch we tried the tacos, a salad, and I think another ceviche. Great little spot that... More

Fresh food, great fish and guacamole and good music, only steps from the ocean. Be sure and walk on the beach after dinner for a great view of the stars!

Given the executive chef's pedigree and a friend's high praise for QF/Zamas, we had great expectations for dinner. In fact, we opted to spend our last night in Tulum dining here. Sad to say that we had a very disappointing send-off. The pasta with shrimp and the signature whole fish -- both highly recommended by the waiter -- were absolutely... More

Here's the good: * great location on the beach - fantastic views * tables are on the sand * very pretty layout, especially at night - very romantic * live band occasionally which is very nice Here's the bad: * every time the food is very BLAND * drinks are very WEAK... We hosted our wedding reception at Zamas over Thanksgiving 2009. The owner, the chef and the staff were a dream to work with ... accommodating, helpful, knowledgeable, upbeat. We had a number of foodies in the group, so I had been a bit apprehensive. However, we heard (and still hear) nothing but rave reviews of the entire event and especially... More

We didn't stay at Zamas, but we did eat dinner in their restaurant. We left puzzled at why there is so much hype about this place. The food was mediocre, and overpriced. The ambience is fine, but the restaurant is very large in the sense that it seats many people. I prefer the more intimate experience found at most other... More

Recently visited the restaurant at Zamas, which is still signed Que Fresco but is nothing like it was only three years ago. At that time, it still had great food and a relaxing atmosphere, though it had slipped a bit in the service category from 2003. There is no more Italian flavor, no more wood fired thin crust pizza or... More
