We were a couple seated on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not full, but we were given a table in the patio with view and smell of the servicios. Margaritas, don't bother. We tried to order seafood combo to share, same price as 2 smaller orders, but were told we had to order something else as well. Pork tacos,... More

In our visit to Merida we simply went several times to La Chaya Maya due to the extensive menu offering several local dishes, the food quality, the great service and accesible prices. Our only recommendation is to plan to go in advance because there is always a waiting list which really moves fast! The wait time is worthy. Do not... More

I was expecting a little more since this place is always packed. The food is good but I feel something is missing. I will give it another chance soon and I will update my review.

La Chaya Maya is one of those restaurants you have to enjoy in order to say you visited a city. In this case, La Chaya Maya is a Meridian thing. We went 3 times during our week vacation because there was always in the menu we wanted to try. Poc-Chuc, Salbutes, Cochinita, Panuchos, hand-made tortilas, horchata. Everything we had we... More

Forget Almendras, this restaurant downtown will give you a sample of true Yucatecan cuisine at a reasonable price. Some of the waitresses seem overworked and underpaid which is typical Mexican.

All the food I've had here was good... but the green juice (jugo de chaya) was the most memorable experience. Just look around at all the other tables. EVERYONE is drinking it! If it's not too hot (which it shouldn't be in the shady courtyard), make sure to ask to sit outside. You can oggle at the tortilla ladies making... More

It's not like I thought! I had the famous salbutes, they had no taste! My boyfriend had the the Chaya soup and he liked it! They all seem so stressed I didn't like the feeling! But the price is good! But I wouldn't return

This is the best traditional restaurant in Mérida. You can try different places but this one is the real deal. From papdzules to brazo de reina, from poc-chuc to cochinita, everything is great and service is amazing!

Loved the setting, food, margaritas. Best meal I had. Wish I had more time, I would have been here daily.
