The door was open and we wandered in. Inside there were four or five white plastic tables, each surrounded by four red Coca Cola chairs. One table in the corner was covered in dulces, sweets, for sale. We later noticed that there was a much larger seating area in the room behind the one we were in. Between the two... More

Really good simple fish tacos (not Baja style). At first you wonder how this cold fish taco is going to be good and how the very small and thin tortilla will hold up, then you eat it and it's kinda magic. Also had a carnitas taco with thin sliced crispy pork and scrambled egg (both cold also), really good, I'll... More

Make the effort to find this place - you won't be sorry. It is a very modest interior, but very clean and the service is friendly and fast. The menu changes all the time, but the basics are shrimp, lobster, and breaded fish and shark, with a rotating cast of seafood, pork, potatoes and some mysterious (but delicious) mixtures. You... They have a red Coca-Cola awning. That's how you'll spot the place. It's a hole in the wall, with maybe five tables. You see what fillings they offer that day, pick the ones you want and say how many, and that's it. They have Coke or Sol to drink. I enjoyed all of mine except the shark ones; they usually... More

Yucatan Living advertised El Cangrejito as one of the best hole-in-the-wall taco places in Merida, so we were excited to try it out. There was no one at 1 pm when we went for lunch. The waiter was friendly and we were able to communicate in my rudimentary Spanish. Once I placed my order for some seafood tacos, a guy... More

We were told about this place or we would have never found it. It is tiny, with poor signage but the tacos were great! Lunch only. Not fancy is an understatement but we will definitely be back soon!

Love this little place. One of the few cocinas in Merida that serves fish tacos. And they're great!

WE discovered this little hole-in-the-wall, non-descript cocina economica 11 years ago and have been rturning to eat tacos de camarones there ever since.  By far the best seafood tacos in Merida.

This little dive looking hole in the wall serves the most unique seafood tacos in town. This ain't your regular fried fish tacos with pickled onion. They have a rotating variety of fish, shrimp, octopus, cod and some others I don't even know their names. You can trust the kitchen and the food. My advice is to just try them... More

The story goes that many years ago the Mexican President used to send out for Cangrejito tacos from Mexico City by fighter plane, and I would not doubt it! OK, if you want linen tablecloths and international food, go to the Hyatt or somewhere, this isn`t for you! If, on the other hand, you want to eat some of the... More

This is named in a number of guide books, such as Lonely Planet and the Rough Guide, tacos and beer, but SUPERB. It is said that the President of Mexico used to send a plane to collect food from here in the 60s. May not be true, but SHOULD BE!
