The best food we have had so far! Will probably be back at least one more time before we leave. My husband had the Mole Verde de Espinazo and was blown away! He is a very hard one to please! We shared the tortilla soup which was very good too. I had the chili rellenos.....EXCELLENT!!!! Ester is very nice. 5... More

In any other city, I would give this 4 stars, but this is Oaxaca, and there are wonderful restaurants with great atmospheres for dining everywhere. The prices are good here, for the fare. We had to limit our diet to soft foods, so couldn't sample everything. We liked what we ate, but would not go back because we were not... More

We went here last year and now twice this year. It is always great. I always order the guacamole. It comes with totopos, a thick corn tortilla, my favorite. The molè negro is incredible and my husband loved the chiles en agua. He took a group of people to lunch, some of them long time visitors who had never heard... More

We headed for El Escapulario for 'lunch' (we seem to be lunching later and later in Mexico) - it was about 4pm, only to be told they were full up but we could come back in half an hour, which we did. The food was great - a platter for two of mixed Oaxacan specialties including grasshoppers, and as there... More

We found this place by chance walking around town. Man, aren't we glad we did! We had the chiles rellenos with requeson and orange salsa, and sopa de tortillas. Both were excellent. I highly recommend this place.

This was my favorite dinner, of many, during our week in Oaxaca. We were tested to a family size living room and hosted by a truly wonderful senora , who , I was told later, does most of the actual preparation and all of the serving of our meal. I had the "Tablecloth" stainer. Thanks

We enjoyed delicious moles and perfect freshly made limonada, served with wonderful hospitality. The proprietor was so friendly and generous -- when we asked her advice on where to buy a travel sewing kit, she even brought out her personal sewing box and gave us a needle and thread! We will definitely return.

We were walking by and were intrigued by the different moles on the menu. We made the decision to come back for dinner and were not disappointed. There were five of us and we all had a great time. The waitress was patient and friendly and helped us with the menu. I had chicken with the grasshopper rice. Delish! It... More

I loved this place and ended up fighting with my crew because they did not want to repeat a restaurant. Personally, I could eat here every night! They have an incredible variety of moles. I was acting as translator for a bunch of friends, but I couldn't keep up with the detail our waitress gave us. (I think she is... More

Was just on a trip with my mom, make this restaurant a must-do. Amazing, slow cooked food and great service. Do not miss the chance to have a meal or two here. All family recipes made to order of traditional Oaxacan food. Can't wait to come back!
