Excellent restaurant with nice atmosphere overlooking the Zocalo. Nothing to criticize and a good choice to absorb the atmosphere of evening Oaxaca and the accompanying live music playing down below.

We ate here twice - first and last nights. My friend knew of it from a previous visit when a Oaxacan family introduced her to it. The pechuga de pollo mole negro was life changingly delicious! Great ambiance above the zocalo, also.

It is relatively easy to find the ground level entrance to this restaurant side of the Zocalo. We had delicious fresh tuna and Galician octopus and the bill was about 750 peso (USD 37) only for the two of us including wine and dessert. Great value and nice service. Our bill included "propina" tip.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel manager, and it did not disappoint. The Spanish white by-the-glass was excellent, and a good value. Dishes were traditional and mainly Oaxacan and everything we had was very good. Our server, an elderly Mexican woman, was gracious and kind. We had a lovely table overlooking the Zocalo.

Great food, great location....but what I remember the most is the waitress that took care of us. Her name was Dolores. Why? Because I have never seen anybody with the skills she has.We were really impressed by her very warm welcome...then, when asking about recommendations, she could not have been more helpful and knowleageble. The restaurant got really full in a... We had a very nice time. We skipped the mexican menu and ordered their international options. The tuna was delicious as well as the salmon, the rabbit and the giant shrimps. The "vino dela casa" was a good choice. Dolorws was oyr waitress. She is a star. Spent $2000 5 people.

We dined here in maybe 1992. We did not go again until Jan. last year. We went again a few days ago. I am not sure why we stopped coming here it is a great place. Attentive service, excellent food, and beautiful setting over the Zocalo. As everything in Oaxaca is is very cheap for fine dining so now is... More

We came back to this place 3 times in our 1 week visit. It has a balcony overlooking the Xocalo. There are musians that play below and people dancing on the street. They have a nice wine list and all the meals we had were excellent as was the service. For us the value was also excellent.

Find the entrance hidden amongst the cafes and enjoy great Spanish and Oaxcan cuisine with a bird's eye view of the zocolo. The service is excellent. I had the seasonal roast turkey which was served with a delicious gravy, why have cranberry when you can have cherries? Worked well and made me feel festive! Be warned... the digestivos are served... Was here 20 years ago and it was espectacular. I deeply regret that it no longer represents basque cuisine or traditions. From a high-end gourmet tradition with high class service, fresh from-the-oven dishes is down to a fast-food stile place. The jamon serrano is obviously precut and served well in advance of ordering. The lamb shoulder tasted at least a... More
