After walking a lot in Mexico City, I rested a while in this place. It is a bookstore and caffeteria. Couches are comfortable. Ordered "mini postre" which was delicious and not so expensive.

We went to this library/restaurant to try it out. Our waitress was zero nice with us. We ordered and took a while to get our food. Our orange juices seem on acidic side and the only reason I gave it 3 stars because the manager came back and offered us new drinks and a ten percent discount. There are better... More

Our friends that live in Mexico City, which we were visiting, needed to buy a book and since it was dinner time we decided to eat here. Cool concept: a bookstore with a full restaurant and bar, coffee and pastries. We ordered a variety of dishes so we could all try the different items on the menu. The food was... More

Do not order the "pan francés" meaning frech toasts, it is not french toasts! is just 4 slices of some hard bread covered with tons of cinnamon and brown sugar and some mapple syrup. Seems they do not know what frech toasts are and they just give you this insulting awful bread highly overpriced. Just google the recipe people!

The concept is nice, that mix of a bookstore with a restaurant but done it in a poor way. The food was really bad, specifically a chicken sandwich which feel very cheap, nothing gourmet. It's a non-smoking place but you can feel smoke I didn't know from where.

El Penulo is a must visit every time we're in Mexico City. There are smaller branches in the Zona Rosa and Condesa, but the Roma store is the granddaddy of them all, offering not only a sensational array of books and videos, but an excellent cafe/restaurant and a rooftop performance space that plays host to readings, concerts, and (best of... I love the layout and decor of this place and I have never seen any establishment like this in any other parts of the world I have visited. It's excellent for spending the afternoon with a big cup of coffee and a nice cake. If you are into some unique coffee / Frapucino concoction I think you are better place... More

Amazing place! Wonderful combination between a restaurant, a coffee shop and a (very complete) library, located in the heart of one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Mexico City. Affordable prices and an excellent staff complete the experience.
