We were able to get a reservation for 10.30am Saturday morning. I thought that the full lunch menu would be available at this time but it seemed it was not and mostly egg dishes were on the menu which was disappointing. That said, food was tasty, service I have to say was distracted at best. I'd give it another try... More

When I came to Mexico 38 years ago this was my favourite restaurant. Just 2 blocks away from my company. It was modestly priced and very good food. I'm surprised it's still on ANY list. It's far away from any tourist venue and the facade may be off-puting.

Probably the best mexican restaurant in the city. Everything is fresh, delicious and made from scratch, including the mole. The place itself is not very attractive but the food is well worth the trip.

This restaurant was delightful! While there isn't much to say for the decor, the food and service are top notch! The table side guacamole and caesar salad are unforgettable! Also, don't miss the mescalitas!!!

The place, family-owned, has been around for generations and is a treasure among Mexicans. Some reviewers (obviously clueless expats or paranoid tourists) have suggested it is not "in the best part of town" and people should be careful. huh? The neighborhood is nice and middle class, near upscale areas (but not touristy, thank heaven). The food is excellent, the clientele... More

Was enticed to this restaurant by family in Mexico City who promised great food in not so great setting. We were surprised by superior food and service in quite a lovely setting. Sure, this is not the best part of town, and care needs to be taken if you're a tourist, but the food was amazing! Old fashioned service (they... More

I visited the place early October, on the very last weekend of the Chiles en Nogada season. The best Chiles en Nogada I have ever tasted. Don't let the looks of the place disappoint you, although it doesn't have a convincing look, the food does. I didn't have a reservation and the place was booked for lunch. The nice lady... More

Nico.s has a wonderful feeling of family and authenticity. The dishes are simple, honest, wonderfully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The servers are kind, sincere, and attentive. For our starters, we ordered the guacamole and Caesar salad, prepared table side - both were perfectly seasoned. For our main we ordered the special of the day - roasted lamb. Tender and loved... A delicious experience complete with guacamole made at your table, huge mezcal selection wheeled over on a cart for you to make a selection and great service. The food is proper Mexican and the menus are only in Spanish. This is an authentic restaurant experience and we were the only tourists in there from the looks. A must visit when... More

Staying in Azcapotzalco

Neighbourhood Profile
Azcapotzalco
Home of the Tepeneca people, Azcapotzalco has remained faithful to its roots even as time has passed. Beautiful details abound throughout its gardens, houses and other historical buildings such as the Casa de la Cultural. The works of Siqueiros, Diego Rivera and O'Gorman are in abundance and should not be missed while exploring the area. Walk through the streets and have a taste of the neighborhood, which can be found at the bottom of a good cup of coffee or a scoop of an artisanal ice cream to cool down. Once the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than going out to visit classic cantinas to grab a drink where the nostalgia of the beautiful atmosphere comes to life.
