Everything indicates this restaurant changed ownership. In their attempt to make a more "sophisticated" menu instead of leaning towards a traditional local one they have failed completely. Everything yes, EVERYTHING we ordered was bad... period. Either overcooked, microwave heated or cold. The sauces were very bad, the overall experience pitiful not to be re lived. I hope they turn things... More

We stopped here twice for coffee & desserts. Both were excellent and in a good area of Guanajuato for walking & shopping.

Our first time visiting Guanajuato with several disappointing meals out, we were thrilled to find this little restaurant. There were five of us--half had breakfast and half had lunch (the miner's enchiladas) and we were all very happy with our meals. Everything was fresh, super-flavorful and delicious. They also brought us bread, fruit and local coffee with several refills. I'm... More

I had last eaten here 2 years ago and the food was good. I went this year with two other friends and I was so embarrassed that I recommended it. My fish tacos were nearly inedible as were my friend's dishes. I rarely write bad reviews. This is one.

I came here (party of 3) almost three weeks ago. When I left, I was ready to write a review describing my experience but decided to simmer down first and try to be objective at a later date. Now to the review itself. The experience was the worst I ever had in a restaurant. It was a comedy of errors.... More

My family and I visit Guanajuato regularly. This place was always one of our favorite stops. Unfortunately, the qualitty has dropped significantly. Food is average at best. Our former favorite dishes are no longer available. We will not be going back. Try someplace else

This is my fifth year visiting GTO and El Abue was always on my list of places to eat. Sadly, I think this place has changed ownership. The menu is different, the food is not very good anymore and they don't have a good wine selection anymore. I am very disappointed :( I don't think we will be going back... More

After reading several reviews one would wonder if there are not two El Abues- the one that gets the rave reviews and the one that gets the bad ones. If that's the case we were unlucky enough to eat at the terrible one. The place was DIRTY, I mean really dirty. It looked like the kitchen hadn't been cleaned in... More

El abue? This is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. The tables were dirty, the service incredibly slow. And my dinner was terrible, flavorless, unless you like dishwater. Do not even consider going here. No Abue for you.

We usually avoid inside dining when there's so many outdoor patios to choose from but we are very glad we decided to try this recommended restaurant. It's rare in Mexico to get a great salad that blends the best of Mexico and the US. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful the salad dressing incredibly tasty. This was a large chicken... More
