This restaurant is basically located on a sidewalk on a busy street near the center of town, so it can be noisy. However, we have had several of the stuffed potatoes over the past few years and they are very tasty. The portions are huge, which is fine for us. It just means we can take 1/2 back to the... More

I'm not a huge fan of papas but there are other things on the menu and the food was so good and fast. Very filling for sure. Wasn't crazy about the location - pretty much tables set out on the sidewalk and the toilet didn't have a seat on it...that was interesting! Worth the experience though.

Not fancy, pretentious, or high-end, but this is a fantastic and fun place for a casual dinner. The place is packed with locals and the food is delicious. It's not what you'd expect as "traditional" Mexican food and that makes it even better. They can't help but surprise you.

I loved watching the guys on the grill work, they're fast and have great skill. They make amazing tacos and my fav was the tacos el pastor. Bring your appetite because you can eat til you explode for next to nothing. Truly authentic!

La Papa Loca was a surprising treat in the heart of Zihuatanejo! For $9US we got 2 beers, 2 bottles of water, 5 pastor tacos and a GIGANTIC baked potato stuffed with bacon, shrimp, tomatoes and ooey, gooey, creamy cheese. By far the best value of any meal we ate during our stay. The atmosphere is exciting and authentic. The... More

Most of the dishes are a baked potato with various toppings of sour cream, butter, grilled meat, mushrooms. The table is set with tortilla chips with several salsas, grilled onion, sliced radishes and different fruit juices or beer to drink. Most selections are $55 pesos plus drinks. Service is fast and efficient. The only problem is finding a table at... More

Papa Loca is a small local taco stand that has fabulous stuffed potatoes. My favorite, the Mexican Potatoe, had grilled chicken, mushrooms, cheese and nopales (and probably a few more things I can't remember). All come with sour cream and butter, You also get a grilled onion and radishes for garnish, and chips with several types of salsas. There are... More

Papa Loca is a favourite of those of us who visit Zihua regularly or are snowbirds escaping the Northern winters. Do not look for high class dining but enjoy the sights and smells of Mexico. Order one of the specialities - the stuffed potatoes. Enjoy a cervesa or two and talk to the folks at the next table. Everyone is... More

When you need a break from some of the higher priced restaurants in the Zihua/Ixtapa area this is a wonderful option. Ask any taxi driver for a good place for tacos and Papa Loca will inevitably be on his list. We can't recommend the tacos enough. The al pastor tacos were great, as were the tacos de bistec. The pastor... More

Went here with friends and everyone was happy. The salsas on the table are all very spicy but good if you like it hot. Service was prompt. The stuffed potatoes were excellent. We all had different ones and we all liked them. Would for sure go back. Very inexpensive and yummy. Will for sure go back when in the area.... More

A lot of places claim to be for the "locals" but this place actually is where they eat. The name means "crazy potato" in English and that is their speciality. Huge baked potato's filled with buttter, sour cream, cheese and then a variety of meats. Their tacos al pastor and pico de gallo are the best I've ever tasted. Nothing on the menu is more than $50 peso's or about $4usd. Very popular spot with the locals and tourist's that want to experience authentic Mexican food..
