Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm not going to drop a one-star review because this restaurant does not deserve it. The decor and ambiance is nice and when they are on the food can be very good. I am between a two and three star review on this one, but...I am going with the two because their recent price raise and some of their service is offensive. First, the good. Sometimes you can get very good food here. I once had a fish entree that was terrific; the fish was fresh and flavorful. Many of the menu items are served with salad and I believe soup. You can get venison if that is your thing. The place itself is very nice, with wood-burning fireplaces and a nice outside area. They have a good-looking bar. There is some inconsistency with the food. Still, never bad. The problem is this restaurant has always been 'Rosarito tourist' priced. They charge what they think they can get, which of course is their right. However, the quality and service often does not match the price. And the recent price hikes are ridiculous. Want a Beefeater? Pay $11 for a shot. That is a $20 bottle of booze. Rum and coke? $8.50. A simple beer? $4.50, in a town where the going price is $2. This is Mexico, not Vegas. Their entrees are pretty expensive even by San Diego standards, which is pretty unheard of in Baja. Finally, there were some issues with the service. The greeters were nice, the big guy at the bar is always very helpful and provides good service. But one barman was outright surly. What really bothered me was that there was a girl who was very clearly, obviously sick. Coughing, running nose, the whole nine yards. But there she was, working and coughing, which is completely unacceptable in the covid era. So there it is. If you are in and out of Rosarito and money is not an object, then not a terrible choice. But honestly I don't think overpricing like this should be rewarded, at least not from a place with inconsistent food and service.More

Fist time I've ever had tough arrachera. Great atmosphere Lots of interesting vintage objects around, like a museum. Margaritas are legit, made with fresh lime juice.

Had lunch. Fish taco was - most probably - undercooked. Resulting stomach problems that followed were nasty and long-lasting. We are experienced mexico travelers so are convinced that the culprit was lunch.

Delicious food (loved mushrooms and seafood), great service, beautiful atmosphere, almost American prices ( maybe 10-20% cheaper than American). A must see!

My husband and I came here for lunch. The food over all was decent… BUT we had one problem. My husband asked for green salsa and we SAW the waiter go to the bin with the leftovers and pick out a used bowl of salsa,...get a clean spoon & bring it to us. I think he was new & just embarrassed to ask where to get the salsa from… but this was completely unsanitary & gross.More

If you're ever in the area, stop by. We first heard about them 10-15 years ago while up at Laguna Hansen, glad we listened. You'll be glad you stopped in. Plan for 30 minutes just admiring their Haciendado Artifacts.

the ambiance is interesting but inside it was so cold ice cream wouldn't melt. The waiter spoke English but was more of drop And stop till the check arrived. The guacamole was bland, the chips arrive 10 minutes later. The seafood platter was worse then...average as the grease soaked marlin taco was worse then Jack on the box. They reluctantly brought warm tortillas at the end of the meal. The meat was nothing special...chicken was okay. The potato was overcooked and tiny. The salad again was basic lettuce couple of croutons and dressing. The bill was excessive on all levels Who wrote these other reviews Plane and simple....expensive tourist trapMore

I came with a friend of mine, this place was recommended to us. By far the best steak I have gotten in a long time. Big portions, tender big filet and cooked to perfection. Don’t be sorry that you missed it. Definitely on my do...do list again before leaving.More

I've been going to El Nido for many years and have ALWAYS been greeted with open arms, great service and 1st class food and drink no matter what I ordered! The people here that reported otherwise obviously had their own problems, it's one of my...favorite restaurants on the planet! I've lived and traveled worldwide and the ambiance and food and service is excellent. They are family owned and have their own ranch inland where they raise their livestock and I've toured them, awesome people! If you don't have a good experience there you've brought your troubles with you, please leave them at the door! (I am a patron and have NO affiliation with the family or restaurant) JB :)More

El Nido is in the center of Rosarito Beach. The food is great. I have eaten there several times. So whether you want seafood, Mexican food or just a good breakfast they will not disappoint. Also the restaurant interior is wonderfully decorated with water features,...plus an outdoor area out back for enjoying on a sunny day. It's certainly one of the nicest restaurants in Rosarito.More

Not only is the food excellent, but the staff and chef were able to accommodate food allergies (gluten free & Alpha Gal) with no problem. The atmosphere is unique. Watch tortillas being made, potatoes roasted by the fire, and meat being grilled over open flames....Loved it!More
