Well worth trying especially on the specials nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (25% off). Steaks are superb in quality and value.

The starters were ok. The mushrooms in stilton were very tasty. The chicken and asparagus was good. The pork escalopes in mustard was tasty, although chewy. The broccoli very overdone & soggy. The fish (fish & chips) was very thickly battered and extremely chewy, difficult to finish. The burgers were very disappointing - dry, tasteless and overdone. The baps they... More

Visited with friends so we had a selection of meals. Lamb shank and mixed grill were good not cheap cuts well cooked. Fish and chips were very large portions but the batter was thick and because of that quite stodgy, very crispy on the outside. The steak and ale pie was quite disappointing, small with minimal filling. Overall it was... More

Had drinks in the bar area. It was quiet when we visited. It suited the purpose of our visit, however it's just an average pub so wouldn't go out of my way to visit

Booked a special offer 2 nights bed, breakfast & dinner expecting an upgraded room as promised in email. Unfortunately, ended up in no frills room with hot water tap too hard to turn off, bathroom fan useless leaving everything wet with steam, hairdryer waste of space - attached to wall with very tight wire that wouldn't stretch across to the... Absolutely fabulous Sunday roast. Beef was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth, as were the vegetables. Two people also had pies and vowed to return soon, even comtemplated a take away as they do not live locally and we're visiting. Daughter-in-law was able to get a really good vegan nut roast which she described as very tasty.

Thank Jackie H
