Omg why has it taken us so long to go here? Great food large portions at a good price freshly cooked not just reheated like so many other places seem to do now! Friendly welcoming staff that are very helpful 😀 along with a great atmosphere What more could you want? Will definitely be back soon

This was recommended to us by a local B&B. Because it's more than one building now linked, it creates two or three very different eating areas. The food was excellent, the service good and at all at a very competitive price. We were staying for a short time and had intended sample other local places to eat but decided to... More

This was my second visit to The George. On both occasions I received a warm welcome whilst I waited for friends to arrive. We chose to eat in the bar not the restaurant. There is an excellent choice of food and the portions are more than ample and of good quality. I'm sure we will return.

We can only but recommend the lunch menu at The George, the portions are huge, the selections are great and the atmosphere is lovely. We would highly recommend and would not hesitate to go back to this lovely place, for both lunch and dinner.

Visited the George for the second time in a few months. What's not to like? Great food (homemade lasagne), good choice of ale, pleasant and light surroundings and prompt, friendly, polite service. Fully recommended.

We ate here on a very busy Sunday (Mothers Day). The food was superb and due to our timeframes (and being completely full) our deserts were expertly packaged for us to takeaway. Highly recommend the Sunday roast!

Booked a table for 13.00 hrs on Sunday and was really disappointed. Couldn't fault the food but service was abysmal. Waited an hour between first and main course even after prompting the staff, had five different waiter/waitresses and had to continually ask for what should have been automatic.....water glasses, dessert spoons etc. Complained to the manager who said we weren't... We went to the George two Sunday's ago., would definitely go more often if it was nearer us. Lucky we found a seat in what was a very busy pub. I am a veggie my husband loves his meat and we both had great roast dinners with fabulous service on a very very busy day. Absolutely the best place to... More

Went on a Sunday so roast dinner was on the menu. The plates were piled so high with food that it was daunting and off-putting. Our starter was haddock fish cakes which were mostly potato with little fish and were much too large for a starter. The main course was mediocre at best; the roast lamb tasted of lamb but... More
