Me and my fiancé very occasionally eat out but Dirleton Gallery is one place we make the effort for. It's a lovely family run business with home cooked recipes with soups, sandwiches, and cakes but Sunday lunch is always a top meal, with the Christmas Eton mess being the best dessert I've eaten in a long time. The art gallery... More

We went recently for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. Lovely and casual for when you want to meet friends or just can't be bothered cooking. Can't remember exact price, but remember thinking it was extremely good value. They can get full, but do take reservations so do phone and book in.

We stopped in for lunch after visiting the nearby castle.friendly helpful staff, lovely lunch (all homemade). Had some banana date and walnut cake as a takeaway and it was very good.

Stopped here for lunch....Wish we didn't bother, but kids were hungry, only place in sight. Staff were not welcoming as we entered the strange looking building. Toilet was not very welcoming either, cobwebs on sight. Moody, middle aged waitress, not a smile or acknowledgment to any of us. I felt as if I'd walked into her house unannounced, and got... More

On arriving place looked "closed up" as the surroundings outside are very untidy, but there was a sign stating "we are open". Not the best of welcomes from what would appear to have been the owner. The menu seemed good but the items on the board were unclear as they were written in a "scruffy way" with no prices. We decided... More

Slightly hidden away down lane near church in picturesque Dirleton, This small family run cafe has a limited but interesting menu. Good quality home made food . Delicious courgette and almond soup, best scones . Attentive , polite. service. .

We went for lunch on a Sunday with our two kids. We were not given a menu or any indication of what there was to eat apart from a board showing sandwiches and soup on the wall. The Sunday Lunch menu was empty. When the waitress came over she was very unfriendly, we appeared to be an inconvenience to them.... More

We finished our walk and popped in for coffee and cake. Whilst the actual food and drink was good the service was appalling. We got no welcome from the man and woman serving, they were positively rude, not helpful or accommodating, never smiled once throughout the stay.

I stayed in Dirleton from Thu-Sat and wandered along to the gallery at least once each day. Despite white boards, and a sign at the actually door, saying 'open', it wasn't. If you're not staying in the village, phone first to check ...
