Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely pub. Great seafood pie. Gorgeous Thai curry. Sat by the fire. Attentive staff. Lovely village. And have to applaud them for their support of youngsters who need a helping hand in the job market (see below) Great hot whiskey too.

Extended family of 10, over 3 generations dined in Larkin's on Halloween Bank Holiday Monday afternoon ... and it was top class. It was not the best of days, but the warm welcome was just the start. All the old favourites on the menu -...Beef, Lamb, Turkey & Ham - and each was cooked to perfection and full of taste.More

We've loved eating in Larkins for 20 years, it just gets better with age. Maire has turned it into a gem. Great atmosphere, really tasty food, child friendly, staff excellent.

I was disappointed with my recent return visit, having been here many times when I worked in the area previously. The menu is far more limited and the choices are very focused on maximising profits (wings, burgers, sirloins, cod). Lots of fried foods. A glorified...chipper. A hipster chipper perhaps with fiver chips. Its the time we live in but it makes so hard to find somewhere that is interested in exquisite food and sorely disappointing. The staff were very pleasant and also very young. The cost cutting is apparent and disappointing. I hoped for so much better leaving me sad for this once lovely pub. I wish them well and hope they may rebound again in the near future.More

We happened to be in the area one Sunday afternoon .I had heard loads of great reviews about Larkins. We ordered all the young staff very friendly. While waiting on our food we heard the owner asking a staff member if she had washed the...floor the employee answered " yes" and the owner/manager told her not to lie to her she knew the floor wasn't washed this went on asking the employee again and again "did you wash the floor"while all there guests listened in as the conversation got louder and louder all the guests started to look around at each other the owner/manager finished the conversation with the young staff member saying "don't ever lie to me again ". How un professional as a manager /owner to speak to staff like that and to humiliate staff infront of a crowd of people. When our dinner came the portion was good but unfortunately the mash patato was cold with hot gravy poured over it. V disappointing would definitely not recommend anyone to visit.More

This rating would have got 1 star except for the fact that I really enjoyed the King Prawn Starter as a main course! So my son ordered the chicken wings as a main course and what arrived out was a bigger portion than a starter...and NOTHING ELSE. They then charged €5 for a portion of chips. So a chicken wings as a main course was a whopping €23!!! Seriously lads, that's extortion in a nutshell. Also the chicken curry had more veg than chicken.More

Stopped here while on Shannon.. 2 adults 3 children and dog . Fabulous food even my picky kids cleared their plates. Try the chicken burger there best I have ever tasted.we had a dog with us and that was no problem either. Staff very friendly...and very competent it was extremely busy when we were there and still the level of service and friendliness was great, Only drawback and it is a small one is that you can’t reserve an outside table.More

Well, where to start? We asked locals for recommendations and one told us that we could try Larkins. The comments online looked good, so we decided to give it a try. As we didn't reserve a seat, we had to wait for a bit; So,...if you want to head there, best reserve a seat as it can be quite busy. We ordered our food, which reached us rather quickly, but sadly every single dish was an utter disappointment. Dad's burger was so overdone, that it was just dry and hard to eat. Mum's fish and chips were rather bland and my pie was just burnt. Service was okay, rather distanced, but polite. We then returned to another Pub which was way better in every aspect: service, food and quality. Maybe they just had a bad day, but for us the experience was sadly not good.More

We returned to Larkin's after an absence of 3 years due to COVID-19 etc. We weren't disappointed. Welcome was great as always as was the service and atmosphere. Edel, Aisling, Sarah and the lads made us feel so welcome and relaxed as did the owner...on several occasions. The food and music was excellent and we'd highly recommend a visit as locals also made us feel wanted and welcome. Thanks folks, see you soon.More

Clueless server told us they had no bread! Asked about the soup of the day he told me it was frsh cream & chive!!!? (after he quickly glanced at the menu) After being moved to a different part of the place, we ordered seafood a...chowder & a soup, (which was actually veg WITH cream & chive) which miraculosly had brown bread with it... The ''chowder'' was basically smoked coley & some white fish in a very bland liquid. The soup was advertised as winter root veg with cream & chives. No cream & chives to be seen. Observed jugs of water on the bar outside, just sitting in the blazing sun. Wait staff seemed very undertrained. Wouldn't be in a rush to go back here. Overhyped.More

We visited Larkins as a couple on the Sunday evening of Valentine's Weekend and were so disappointed with our main course. We booked the table for 5 p.m. and we ordered the fish pie each. We have had such good experiences in Larkins in the...recent past and always love their fish pie, for which they are renowned. We received a warm welcome and all the staff were pleasant and efficient. When we were ordering we mentioned that we always love the fish pie and were told that it had been a very popular dish that Sunday. Our meal arrived and it was the most disappointing fish pie we have ever had. Both of us enjoy a fish dish and we enjoy cooking with fish. Our pies were filled with mussel shells and it was plain to see that the kitchen had run short of the fish so decided to fill our pies up with mussels. There was a generous amount of mashed potato on top to disguise the short supply of fish.If only we had bee told that the fish pe was not plentiful due to its demand that day, we would have chosen another dish. We paid €18 each for a most disappointing meal. This has never happened to us before in Larkins. We always find the food to be excellent. It is one of our favourite places to go for a tasty meal which we count as good value. We had travelled quite a distance to enjoy a special meal out, but alas, that was not to be. I really am in no hurry back. Not consistent, unfortunately.More

We had a really lovely meal at Larkins. They have the place decorated beautifully for Christmas, the fires were lit and it was so cosy and welcoming. The staff were great as was the food. They checked for Covid certs and the tables were spaced...out so it was very well done. I'll be back soon.More
