We found this on TripAdvisor and went off to find it. It is in the business district and doesn't have a splashy store front. Inside it is a very nice locals place and would probably be busy for weektime lunch. It was mid afternoon when we went and we were the last customers of the day. The food looks nice,... More

Terrific family run restaurant (3 generations) with delicious local fare. We visited as part of our Food and Culture Tour and went back the next day for lunch. Conch soup and fritters, steamed chicken, macaroni bake and plantains were delicious. Not fancy, just tasty local fare!

While in Nassau we wanted to try a local restaurant that featured local food. We found the Bahamian Cookin’ Restaurant and Bar. It isn’t on Bay Street so it isn’t listed in most of the guides that are given out. I had a Bahama Mama that was good. For lunch we had the Conch Chowder, the Conch Salad and the... More

Only had the conch fritters, but they were worth the visit! AND very cheap. Would go back again if visiting Nassau.

We were in Nassau while on a cruise and looking for a good spot for lunch. This is a small family run restaurant that serves real Bahamian food that is fresh and well prepared. They have a full bar and the service could not have been better. Get off the main tourist strip and eat some great food at this... More

We stopped here on a food tour and were very impressed. This family run operation has mostly local Bahamian style food. We had meal that included: The best conch fritters ever!; "steamed chicken (which is much tastier than it sounds); Baked mac & cheese; and Fried plantains. Everything was delicious. This is a definite stop when in Nassau.

My wife and I along with friends were staying in the Cable Beach area resort Bluewater. They recommend the food tour. The Bahamian Cookin' (Bahamian Kitchen to locals) was the first stop. They started us with conch fritters and finish with chicken, plantains, coleslaw, and peas and rice. You need to stop by here is staying on the island or... More

We stopped in for lunch and it was excellent. We recommend the cracked conch, peas and rice and macaroni. The conch salad wasn't my favorite but that may be just my taste. This lovely restaurant is only 2 blocks walk from the main drag in downtown Nassau. It's clean and the staff were very welcoming. Large plates of food; my... More

I've tried several dishes from Bahamian Cookin' over the years. I've never had a bad experience. They usually have authentic Bahamian breakfast that is usually good and tourists seem to be fond of it.

My friends and I enjoyed lunch here while walking around downtown. Fair price, plenty of space, and the bbq chicken was great! Cracked conch was OK, and the conch salad was good. Have a Kalik to drink for best results.
