On the recommendation of others at our hotel in a resort area in PR, we drove 40 minutes to Jose Enrique for a late dinner around 8:30 pm. The restaurant has no reservation system in place and instead calls your cell phone when your table is ready. The menu is a bit limited and is passed around the entire restaurant... More

Amazing experience. Wonderful food. No reservations, but when you arrive, your name goes on a list and they call your cell phone when your table is ready. We waited only 30 minutes. Around the corner there was a little stand with killer mojitos! Wonderful!!! GO!!

This restaurant was recommended to me by everyone from tourists to waitresses in high end Puerto Rican restaurants. The menus are handwritten and on white boards. I am unsure if there even is a sign with the name of the restaurant outside. And then there is the food. It could not possibly be better. The fish was perfect, the meat... More

When researching our trip to San Juan we kept hearing about this chef. I believe he's the only James Beard nominated chef in all PR. Well, it was incredible. It's a small house in a neighborhood in which all the interior walls have been removed - has a great feel. There are no reservations, so we walked the streets and... More

The food here is great, the staff is great...warm and hospitable. The owner greeted us...the server was very attentive really cool guy, hostess was really nice. Just genuine good peeps, serving some good food, where the food is the focal point and is allowed to shine like a star. On our vacation we went several times,if you are worried about waiting...I suggest going during... More

Everyone raves about this place, so on the fly we booked a table. Wow! What a surprise. "Hole in the wall" type place. Not name on the front cafe type setting. THE FOOD was OUTSTANDING! Quail app, empanadas app, red snapper & 20 oz. rib eye dinner & trifle dessert! Beyond words! We just might eat here all week! But... More

A must when in San Juan, this place rocks! Firstly it is in the fun locals hangout of La Placita/Santurce which is where the locals come and party on the weekend. The food is incredible, not surprised he is nominated for the James Beard award. We had the Lion fish appetizer and salmon cake appetizers- YUMM! then my main of... More

We had a most special late lunch at this restaurant. It was very casual and welcoming. Nothing pretentious but wonderful food. Jose Enrique is not trying to be a European restaurant in Puerto Rico. Rather this is a Puerto Rican restaurant of the highest caliber. If you want to taste what Puerto Rican food, prepared from the freshest ingredients and... More
