Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here on a private tour at the suggestion of our guide. Eight of us in our party. Daily specials are pretty quick to come out, but if you order any of the other menu items, they are made to order and can take up to 30 minutes. We were offered a complementary bowl of soup which was very good. No complaints about any of the food. I had a special of chicken which was served with a bowl of rice and beans and slaw type salad. Those who ordered a made to order vegetable fried rice or sauted vegetables got a lot of food and we did not take leftovers because we didn't have a way to reheat. Saw a lot of people getting orders to go. We were here around 2:30 in the afternoon.

Food was absolutely delicious!
At least 2 different local people recommended this place and I was not disappointed!
This is not a restaurant to come for for a fine dining experience, it is the Jamaican equivalent of a fast food restaurant, I am surprised they have waiter service, however is VERY busy, so the servers are worked off their feet.
Would ABSOLUTELY come here again and again!

This was my husband's favorite spot atmosphere is pretty basic food was on point. Service was awesome. I had the curry chicken and my husband had a beef stir fry dish. We were served a little sampler of soup before our meal came. I can't believe it's taking me so many years to discover this great little restaurant we will definitely be back

We had dinner at Sweet Spice because it was inside dining with air-conditioning.
This is a busy restaurant and has a lot of take out. The restaurant has ten tables.
We were very disappointed because of the service. It took a half hour just to get our drink order in, which ended up just being two glasses of water and some Red Stripe non-alcoholic beverage. They do not have a liquor license it seems.
The waitress also never smiled, and never offered us a nice greeting upon arrival.
We both had the chicken and garlic with rice. This was actually a good dish. But it took a long time for the food to come out.
We were very disappointed, and probably will not come back.

We were very excited to try sweet spice since it was recommended by a security guard where we are staying. We arrived and the lady at the counter literally rolled her eyes at us every time we spoke. We are used to places not having things that are on the menu in Jamaica, but she told us after we had placed our order that the only thing they had was fried chicken. And rolled her eyes some more. So we paid for our 2 drinks and she charged us 140 JA to the dollar - I asked why not 150? (The rate is 156 JA to the dollar right now btw) and she just rolled her eyes some more! Why treat people so disrespectfully?

Lovely authentic Jamaican restaurant. We were staying at an all inclusive hotel in negril but wanted to experience some real Jamaican food so one of our bar tenders recommended sweet spice to us. They don’t serve alcohol but that didn’t matter to us. Two drinks, two starters and two mains came to $27 so fantastic value. The curry chicken was absolutely delicious and you get generous portions. The only reason I’ve not given 5 stars is because the service wasn’t particularly welcoming and friendly from one of the waiting staff (the other we spoke to was absolutely lovely). Would definitely go back again next time I’m in Jamaica

Sweet Spice always lives up to expectations at moderate prices. My last trip I had spicy lobster that was great. They also have great frozen drinks and home made juices. (They do not serve alcohol.)

This place is the best cost/quality place in Negril. The food was delicious (tenderloin steak+mashed potatoes), the waitress was nice, but beware of some mixed drinks that were awful and tasted artificial (Irish moss), we had to return it. Otherwise we will be visiting the place perhaps the 4th time during our stay in Negril.

It was my last day in Negril, and I had a taste for something different. My driver said. Let me take you to one of my favorite restaurants. So we ended up at Sweet Spice. 3 of us ordered shrimp fried rice. The amount of food that came out was enough for 6 people, and the desired taste was just what I was looking for. I will definitely be back

Came here for lunch. Location is indoors with air conditioning. After seeing high reviews for oxtail, we both decided to get it with high expectations. First off, the oxtail dish is currently $1000 JMD more than all the other dishes and it is completely unwarranted. It was just average to be honest. At the end of the day, we overpaid for a mediocre dish. Maybe the other dishes are better, but if you are looking for some good oxtail, go some place else (I suggest Coletta’s or Murphy’s)

Our driver from Montigo Bay to Negril recommended this restaurant. The restaurant seemed busy with many take-out by the locals. We had two dishes we wanted to try; curry goat and oxtail. Oxtail was not available but we got to try their version of 'fried rice' and it was delicious. It looked plain, but the flavour and spices were fantastic.
When travel, we always want to go to the restaurants that the locals go, so if you are the same, this is the restaurant in Negril.
My husband played at Negril Golf Course (which we don't recommend to play) and on our way back from the golf course, our driver dropped us at Sweet Spice, then, picked us up after, and took us to Rick's Cafe. So it's in the same area if you want to plan.

Although the website had this place pegged at Negril, this place (or maybe, a branch of this place)is very conveniently located just outside of Montego Bay in the shopping mall area. After a long day pf touring around the area, this was a very refreshing place for me to kill my hunger and fill me up for the night. Their menu has got all kinds of local and Western dishes, along with drink specials. This is reasonably priced, and the quality and taste of the dish was well worth the wait time. I recommend this place to anyone that is looking for Jamaican food and/or is feeling homesick for some American comfort food.

Visited for lunch. Nice clean restaurant, very generous portions. Several items on food and drinks menu unavailable. I had chicken curry, tasted like English chip shop curry sauce, my husband had bbq chicken. Rice and beans claggy and pretty tasteless. Wanted to leave the hotel and have authentic Jamaican food but found this disappointing.
All edible and very reasonably priced, but won’t be returning.

Took my local family for evening meal. Food was amazing and an excellent price. It didn’t take too long to come out considering there were 7 of us - the only reason it’s not a 5 star review is the lack of attention from waitress and a smile would have been nice - annoying as she did produce the smile for other customers/tables.

We were traveling with a party of about 20. Our waitress was very sullen and full of presumption because instead of asking if we’re paying as a group she made the decision for us. Wrong! So we had to wait again for that to get sorted out. For a group as large as ours there was no warmth, island charm or thanks for coming
