Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Beautiful place found by chance on the port of Saint François. Very affordable menu (15€) for quality homemade dishes with fresh produce sometimes taken from the seller next door, a smiling and attentive waitress, who keeps a smile and does her best to serve all the tables alone. Go there early from midday to get a table!

A nice surprise, on the 15 euro menu that we tasted: Accras starter, I had never eaten such good Accras. Then the grilled fish: it’s a sea bream steak, the fish is fresh, not frozen. Accompanied by vegetables and white rice. For dessert banana flambée in front of the customer or 2 scoops of ice cream. The service is efficient and commensurate with the dishes served. I recommend this restaurant which, unlike some, has not skyrocketed its prices and which serves fresh and tasty products.

Very good address visited this afternoon. The menu has increased to 17€. For this price, nice plate of squash, fish or meat of your choice, accompanied by rice and raw vegetables then banana flared (juice is a killing) or ice cream (coconut sorbet is delicious). As a bonus, the kindness of the boss, the little care. Fast service but not too much, just right. An address to visit if you want to eat local and away from the crowds. 👍

Horrible: non-existent and unfriendly welcome. A chicken colombo with only 2 drumsticks in a bland sauce and a poor pdt on the side and a dry and overcooked fish… the worst was at dessert time, the waiter (a really unfriendly old man) threw the spoons at us on the table… and I had the misfortune of tasting the bananas before they were flambéed and he insulted me in Creole telling me that I was in too much of a hurry… The highlight of the end: he dared to ask us if everything had gone well!! This menu is not expensive but still... you shouldn't make fun of the tourists stuck there...Run away!!!

The quality/price ratio is one of the best of the typically local restaurants we have tested. A 15€ menu with a perfect Accras aperitif. Followed by dishes (we tried the two grilled fish available) which were very good. For dessert, very good banana flambée and ice cream. Service appearing cold at first, but in fact very pleasant. 😉 Try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed

Local restaurant, menu for 15€ chicken or fish, nice plate and ice cream or banana flambé. Very long service even on vacation! The boss is all alone to manage everything and very courageous despite her health problems, so we forgive her the wait. We ate very well.

One of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Guadeloupe. The accras were absolutely delicious, the fish also with a divine spicy sauce. I also highly recommend the homemade fruit cocktails which were very, very good. The restaurant doesn't look like much but the main thing is there: quality in all taste elements and a very warm welcome!

We were told this was the place to eat langouste at a reasonable price. We arrived to be told there was no langouste but we could have the fish menu. OK. Our aperitifs arrived promptly followed by accras as starter. Some 90 minutes after arrival we had our main course. It was nice enough but not really worth the wait, The lady serving was also doing the cooking. She was very pleasant. It was a fun experience but not really one to be repeated.

We stopped in for lunch on a hot day in November, had our choice of tables, and enjoyed the cool inside with a view of a bridge. Our French is not very good, but we had a wonderful fixed price meal for about 12 euro each, bottled water and coffee extra. It was our last meal in Guadeloupe and I'm glad we went here. The place is not much to look at, but the food and service are terrific.

Canne à sucre is a hole in the wall type of place. Plastic chairs and tables, but a nice meal to be had for a fair price. For €12 euro they have a menu where you can have accras which is a fried fish cake and a nice variety salad, fish with white rice and sauce and a dessert. Banana flambe was a whole banana in a sweet dark sauce with rum set on fire. The planteur punch is strong but nice. Place is right on the beach. Service is good, typical island time laid back type of place. I would come back and will!

After a quite long waiting we got our best meal as far as we have been in the island for a great value. 12€ for a meal. Content attached. Only the place is simple as a stick. Plastic chairs and tables. Ancient concrete floor. But not that it counts. Really advised to go for it.

We found this place searching for a family lunch as we and our two children were hungry. It was half full, the waiter didn't seem to notice us but the place seemed fine so we sat down. After 10 min waiting I went to search a waiter who approached the table after another 10. Then we waited FOREVER for our food, it was at least an hour without even a starter. If our children weren't served before us we would have left. The waiter didn't seem to care, at the end he offered a free ice cream for one of the children but then he counted 13€ instead of 12€ for the menus so I guess we paid for it anyway. We ordered fish menu, the mixed salad was fine, the fish fillet in spicy sauce also tasty but the overall experince never to repeat.

This was one of the best Creole meals we had in over 2 weeks on Martinique and Guadeloupe. The Accras were mouthwateringly light and tasty, the Dourade slice superbly cooked. Even the ice-cream that came in a tub, seemed good! All consumed sitting on plastic garden furniture!

Don´t be deterred by outside appearance. Don´t expect a haute-cuisine experience. Don´t expect a fancy decor either. Don´t even expect a menu - in fact, there´s just two options: fish meal or lobster meal, both grilled. Both are excellent value, with salad, accras and a dessert (forget the industrial ice-cream, stick to rum-flambed banana in sugarcane caramel sauce). Fish meal is a steal at 12€, and the lobster will set you back 28€. The salad and accras come with an aioli, heavy on garlic, yet good for me. The lobster comes with a sauce chien with chef´s twist. Also the beverages are cheap, a tall glass of planteur at 4€ can easily knock you down if repeated. An unexpected find, definitely recommendable.
