Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This restaurant on the water in St. Francois looks nicer than the surrounding ones on the street - and it is. The food here is worth the wait and visit - lasagna of vegetables with tomatoe sorbet, duck served with honey and ginger, red snapper with pumpkins and beet puree and do not miss the apple tart for desert. Typical menu but carefully prepared and very tasty.

We should have eaten fish, but after a week we wanted to try some meat. The starters, courgette mousse with crab and pressed vegetables were delicious. The location is wonderful, service quick and friendly. Both veal and lamb were cooked to perfection. Only the side dishes were a little disappointing. And it nice to see how many different ways there are on the island to serve the ti punch: the rhum with sugar and lime. Definitely go back here

The location is very good, with tables overlooking the ocean. This was slightly spoiled by the sargassum, which, on the day we were there, had drifted into view. As is usual in Guadeloupe, starters are priced to be almost the same as mains & the wine markup is fierce. The food was of a very high standard, with octopus being a highlight. Service was a little slow; the place appears understaffed; odd, given its obvious popularity. We had reserved a table, Overall, I recommend le Poivrier for a night-out, but be prepared to pay the price.

It has a wonderful position right on the waterfront and we had a table overlooking the sea. The service was rushed from the start. I think they were understaffed but also the waiters were inattentive and cold. The wine was opened but no tasting offered. Our starters were excellent. My main course of lamb was generally dry. Unusually it was served with a mild horseradish sauce, a bed of turnip tagliatelle which was so meagre that it contributed little. A delicate red wine sauce would have made the very lean lamb more juicy and enhanced the side dishes. The plate was stone-cold so the food quickly cooled down. We are used to fine dining in France and it is rare for me to criticise a meal but our dining experience was a disappointment on a number of levels. I am sure they are capable of much better. Finally, why oh why serve the coffee with chewy sweats rather than thin chocolates ? Like horseradish with lamb, they just don't go.

We spent the second half of our Guadeloupe holiday in in Grande—Terre, near Saint Francois and the owner of our villa didn’t hesitate to recommend Le Poivrier, his favourite local restaurant for an evening meal. We were lucky enough to book a table for four at short notice though not quite lucky enough to reserve one immediately overlooking the sea. We indulged in three courses all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was excellent (more French than French/Creole fusion in our view) and clearly of a high standard for the island. The reason we have not given this 5 stars is simply because the service was not warm or welcoming which was a shame. It would have been the icing on the cake to an otherwise very enjoyable experience.

We went to have a family dinner at Le Poivrier, a restaurant ideally located on the water’s edge. We were very pleasantly surprised by this experience. The tazar carpaccio with ice cream is very exquisite, the sea bream excellent. It is an essential address in Saint François. The price is largely justified in relation to the quality of what we taste, the place and the quality of service. THANKS!

We go every year, we usually have a great time. But this is disappointing. Poached eggs overcooked. Then the veal chops requested "rosé" served "well cooked" therefore hard, the "pink" duck served "rare", the fish overcooked. The Cremes Brûlées very good. As for the service, not a word is the bare minimum. We reported this to you on site. So you ignored us. We are not food critics, just retired restaurateurs. The addition of €450 for 6, quite expensive for the quality of the products and the service provided, unfortunately we will not return any more. Finally, no thanks or greetings. ph

We were really looking forward to fresh lobsters straight from the sea. They were presented appetisingly with the side dish, but were a bit dry. We had to wait about 1 1/2 hours and the waitress was very busy because of the number of guests, but made it clear to us that we were just tourists. Their Creole French was difficult to understand.

We had not booked a table and they were so kind to find a good table for us, got a really good reception, a very cozy resturant, overlooking the sea. The waitress was quick to come up with menu cards and whatever the day’s dish could be, it was presented nice. The young waiters were good at explaining the menu in English and had a good knowledge of the wines. The food was served fine, along with the wine, (after first up donation, one had to replenish in the glasses, small minus, when resturant appears as a good resturant with high standard) You got really good time to eat your food. And then we were introduced to their dessert, and we wanted to share, which made them serve our apple pie with 2 bowl with an ice cream in each bowl, very thoughtfully. Resturant is French but they speak poorly English.

We were quite disappointed given the good feedback. This is what helped us a little bit to choose this restaurant. Aperitif Crush and planter. Too bad the traps were far too cooked and without flavor Salmon gravlax entrance to the dill. Really good generous condition. A real delight Sea bream fillet with potato mash. It could have been very good but unfortunately the fish was really overcooked. A real disappointment. And at the price of the dish, it's not a pleasure. Serves ice cream...huge Otherwise friendly and pleasant setting. Very good welcome. Too bad the kitchen doesn't follow. If you only have one restaurant to do on St Francis, prefer another.

Good level Caribbean catering, that is to say above average. It is not, strictly speaking, gourmet but it is good, well prepared and presented with fresh, local products. Of course, the prices are related to this quality but it is a (financial) effort that you have to agree to make. It's a beautiful address.

Very disappointed at both the mouthwatering map and the many excellent reviews. The Impression that the chef was absent that evening, otherwise we do not explain the miss of all the cooking: overcooked sea bream fillet, purse fish soaked with water. Baba with medium rum by the way. Rating quite salty for this quality (128€ to two)

The friendly welcome in a pleasant setting. The choice of local fruit juice such as guava is limited. Very heterogeneous cuisine, the semi-cooked tuna was very good, the purse fish was very dry and tasteless, overcooked. Really not great. The end result is disappointing.

The setting is superb on the lagoon. The welcome is friendly. The impression was that there was no chef in the kitchen. Blanquette of fish, which I sometimes cook, without vegetables, just a carrot. Very little fish. Duck breast without vegetables, very little accompaniment and breast not tender despite bleeding cooking.

Very good restaurant…impeccable welcome. If you eat on the terrace, the water is right at your feet...a real treat for the eyes I chose: poached egg with lobster as a starter Knife-cut fish tartare with mashed potatoes Ice cream for dessert… The dishes are plentiful, very well prepared, You can go there without any hesitation
