Food was average but well okay and above all, made with love. Sweet family man runs the business with his family and is genuinely interested in his customers. Go there!

Is a little nice place near to the central park, it takes a little bit of time to receive your food but it totally worth it. I think it's the best place to go for a dinner, it's no too famous, but it is quiet and clean.

Husband and I went to Meson de Luis for lunch on our last full day in Santo Domingo. We were looking for something that was a bit off the beaten path and chose Meson de Luis because it looked charming, comfortable and simple. It was a quirky place with holly and ivy table cloths on the tables (in March!), two... More

Colorful establishment. Good prices. Expect local dishes and decent portions. The steaks are a great value and very tasty.

The last time I came here...the food was inedible...service almost non-existent. Very unsanitary even for someone with a high-tolerance for filth.

I've gone several times since the summer of 2012. The service was always extremely slow, but the food, at least, was good. I went in June and August of 2013. The service was still slow, but the food was quite bad. Pork chops, dry. Fried fish, dry. This had been a favorite place, but, sad to say, I won't be... More

We came in to have dinner. We were the only people in the restaurant. They staff delivered our menus and wandered off, without asking us if we wanted anything to drink. After a few minutes the waitress came back and asked us what we would like to order. After making several requests off their 5 page menu, it became clear... More

While staying in the Zona Colonial, our guide recommended El Meson de Luis as a good place to eat Dominican food-- surprisingly hard to find in a touristy neighborhood. Why go to the Carribean to eat Italian or "international" food served at a hotel? This restaurant is a family operation-- Luis and his wife, who's the chef, run the place.... More

I struggle to remember a worse meal! My shrimp had to be viewed under a magnifying glass they were that small. My wife had the conch salad and left most of it. The pork chops tasted stale and salted. My father in law had a steak that was unchewable. It took forever to get our food and were fleeced almost... More
