This is the best place to try traditional cuisine, all the locals go for their lunch, many to take away. We wandered through one day after having just eaten and bumped into John who owns Gracia di Dios, he explained all his food and we agreed to return the following day for his specialty Iguana. So the next day we... More

The food, pre-incident, is hearty local food. As to whether it’s good tasting: that depends on a combination of the individual and the dish ordered. For us, the food ranged from very tasty to “we’ll have them pack it as take-out. Maybe it’ll taste better later when we’re hungrier”. My best recommendations are strictly practical: Stay near one of the... More

I took at taxi to Willemstad to have lunch here with my wife and two boys. When I visit a foreign city, I always like to try out the regional fare, and eat with locals. In the past, this approach has never failed until now. When we entered the restaurant, we first noticed that it was very hot and crowded... More

This is an interesting building and appears to be an old market and is now a 'street kitchen' featuring a range of restaurants serving local food and patrons sit on long tables adjacent to the cooking area. An intere4sting place to watch but not so sure about the food.

In what looks (and sometimes smells) like a large cattle shed, three different local cooks are serving up traditional island food. The food is in huge saucepans which you can peer into to figure out what you want - especially helpful if you don't understand the menu. We ate at the first stand, which had goat stew (kabritu stoba) that... More
