We went to the floating market and afterwards went to grab lunch at Plaza Bieu. It's an open air, open seating, no frills place, with several different cooks to choose from. We ate with Yvonne (sp?) and got her incredible pumpkin pancakes and stewed chicken with funchi. The food was so good and you get a large plate for about... More

In this open hall locals and tourists alike enjoy lunch of "cooking mama's" of several kitchens side by side. It is rather primitive (long picnic tables), but certainly worth a try. Food is served on a serving tray (at least the first kitchen is) with chicken/fish/meat and loads of tasty rice/potatoes. Always served with fried bananas. For NAF 24 (including... More

Had lunch here with a group of 17. Ordering was quick and easy and they even gave us some of the dishes to taste. Had fresh lemonade which is really good. Beef stew was pretty good and my friends enjoyed the goat and fish. Unfortunately they tried to scam us with the bill. This on both tables! And not even... More

Plaza Bieu is a large building with several venders offering a variety of local hot lunch dishes at a reasonable price. Most of the vendors speak English, as the clientele is approximately 50% locals and 50% tourist. There are simple tables of varying sizes that accommodate groups of all sizes. Each vendor has plastic table coverings of individual design so... More

Before we left on our cruise I did a search for a restaurant that served an authentic local cuisine at lunchtime. One that had good reviews and one that was easy to find, since our time on Curacao was limited. As per Trip Advisor, Plaza Bieu came highly recommended. Plaza Bieu consists of a huge warehouse that held 6 different... More

According to the tourist board of Curaçao, this is a good spot for authentic local cuisine at lunchtime. They are right. Try the cactus soup and the goat stew with funchi (polenta).

We tried the goat stew with rice and 2 drinks. Came to about $24 which we thought was a good deal. Large portions, tasty meals, quick service, reasonable price. Would definitively visit again and I would recommend to anyone.

We had read about Plaza Bieu prior to our trip and knew we wanted to try it out. We ended up at Yvonne's which has a prime location right when you walk it (although we did take a peek at most of the menus before deciding.) The vegan and vegetarian in our group were able to get special meals (no... More
