We walked by the church of El Templete, a small neoclassical building finished in 1828, which wasn't that interesting to me but what was interesting was the column in front that "marks the spot where the first Mass was said in 1519 under a Ceiba tree and, under its branches, the supposed bones of Columbus reposed in state before being... Avoid this restaurant at all cost. The only positive thing was the fact the draft beer was the coldest we had while in Cuba. There were 15 people at dinner. We ordered a number of different entrees and all were terrible. I had many excellent meals while in Havana. This was the worst by far.

Our tour group had our last dinner in Cuba at this restaurant down by the cruise ship terminal and it was the best dinner that I had in my week in Cuba. We sat along the main street in the outdoor veranda, and it was a cool and breezy night. I had the ropa vieja and the meat was tender... More

Restaurant "caters" to tourists, but doesn't seem to want to be bothered with tourists. Rude head waiters. Young wait staff very sweet. Food mediocre, at best. I don't plan to eat here again.

We had a pretty good meal at el Templete; we particularly enjoyed the appetisers. It was pretty empty the night we visited but the waiters were very friendly. The most annoying part was that many dishes we selected initially were not available. If you pass by, it is a reasonable place to eat, otherwise I would not be making a... More

I went to lunch at that restaurant as I have passed many times by the front and me and my partner decided to try, to start the service is very cold and impersonal, they do not mistreat you but they almost ignore you, we ordered a daiquiri while we read the menu, And when I saw the prices that horror,... All i can say is we went for lunch and nothing was good. The food took forever and when it came it was cold. The service nothing to write home about. Expensive i guess because its accross the street from the water. Will never eat there again. Highly not recommended

On our last day in Havana, we wanted to get and enjoy a seafood restaurant. We arrived and there were two couples there. The first thing we do is to enquire what is "fresh fish" and we were told most was frozen. The only thing that was fresh which was the fish of the day. We ordered that. The service... More

El Templete is not what it used to be. The fish is still excellent (at least, it was when we ate there in December), but the service is indifferent. Also, the restaurant was almost empty, which was unusual for us. It used to have a good atmosphere, full of locals and expats. That being said, we had some of the... More

Description
El Templete is a bayside restaurant. This restaurant is named ofter neighboring landmark built in 1928 that marks the spot where the settlement of San Cristóbal de la habana was founded in 1519. Originally opened sometimes between 1928 and 1931, it was the second restaurant in the city to have this name, and soon became the favorite of sailors, ahip captains and port pilots. Known since the 1950s as ¨The house of shellfish and international cuisine¨it was famous for its lobsters, shrimps, prawn, clams and delicious paellas, served while customers took in the splendid view of Havana.Today, El Templete revives its seafering tradition in the same atmosphere and continues serving delicious dishes prepared by its excellent Spanish Chef.Past and present come togetherto offer us first-class service and a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
