We stumbled across this pub on our walk along the Hadrien's Wall Path and it was a great find. It was busy and you do need to book a table to get in for dinner in the summer. There was a eclectic variety of food...More

The food was good and locally sourced, and lots of local choices for beer and even gin! To be safe, I'd suggest making a reservation.

This is a very nice pub that serves good quality food. There is a range of first class cask beers and a good choice of quality in-house cooked food. The staff made us feel very welcome

Although we had to walk down the street in this cute town to watch the World Cup, our visit to Samson for post-trail drinks and revisit for dinner were just great. Fine home cooking, helpful and friendly staff.

Super busy so book ahead. Nice food with vegetarian options. Filling but not huge portions. Enjoyed getting veges with my meal instead of pub standard chips.

Yes, dogs are welcome in the bar at any time, but not in the bedrooms. We also have a dog-free dining room.
