Lovely bar meal here, reasonable priced and staff were friendly. Nice beer garden outside and very relaxing.

Had lunch twice here and both times it was good hearty pub grub. Good atmosphere and a roaring fire. The pub has a few rooms so plenty of space to sit and relax

Popped into Sun for bite to eat after walk. Ordered a bacon roll and sandwiches. Understand and accept wait for freshly cooked food but this was just too long. Tea and coffee to go with food was served from bar when order made, so cold by time food came. There had been a lot of other customers waiting before us... More

We walked 2.5 miles to this pub to spend the evening having a few drinks and eating. When we arrived at 5pm the bar as quiet and the restaurant was empty. We enquiried about food and we were told that the restaurant was fully booked. We didn't think for a minute that this would be the case and we were... More

Went in here after we gave up on the Pooley Bridge Inn on the other side of the road. Looked to be very busy and noisy but staff very friendly and found us a table quickly in one of the side rooms. Good menu with local produce well cooked and served quickly even though very busy.

Very friendly staff, warm and welcoming rooms. The food was amazing, me and my wife visited 3 out of 4 nights staying just up the road and we weren't disappointed once.

Just popped if for drinks this time. The place is always busy. So this shows how good the Sun Inn is. Very cosy and friendly staff. Dog friendly. Free wifi. Worth a visit if you are passing through Pooley Bridge. Will always visit when I am in the area.

If you have a dog you may visit a small cold back room. We walked in and seeing it was full, we left. The vast majority of the pub was however empty but we weren't allowed in. I'm not sure this makes business sense. The staff stared at us a bit and we left to spend £70 on food and... More

Description
The Inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the Inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire.

The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny by name and by nature, this is one of the most friendly and cheery hostelries in the region. It is a sizeable whitewashed building with grey framed windows, which in summer are draped with vibrantly coloured hanging baskets. Inside, the decor is simple and warm with low beamed ceilings, wooden tables and chairs and wood paneled walls and bar.

It has a spacious beer garden and a grassy area at the rear with a fantastic wooden childrens play fort. It also has its own car park, which is strictly for patrons.

The Sun Inn is renowned for its Real Ales and has been awarded the Cask Marque and features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. We offer a wide range of local ales and a constantly changing guest ale and for the non ale drinker there are lagers and stouts.
