A proper beach bar run by lovely staff offering good drinks and excellent value food. The perfect place to sit on the beach and watch the sunset. It does seem to close very early though, we couldn't get food after 8pm but that seems to be a fairly common theme in Rarotonga.

Kia Orana, Thank you for your fantastic review. I completely agree with your description of "A proper beach bar". We do tend to close at a reasonable time, this is because the Shipwreck Hut is part of our resort, the Aro'a Beachside Inn, and we do need to be mindful of our quests that stay with us. We hope to... The Shipwreck Hut is part of Aro'a Beachside Inn. It is a cosy beach side bar with a nice variety of drinks and a small, decent bar food menu. The view from the bar of the sunsets is amazing. We were there on a Thursday night when Rudy provides entertainment on the ukulele and vibrafone, supported by Steve, the owner,... More

Kia Orana Ieme, Steve here, thank you so much for your review. We all just like to have fun on our live music nights and we genuinely do have fun. I'm really pleased that our humour rubbed off and that you enjoyed our "island style - make it up as we go" entertainment. Hope to see you again very soon.... More

What a great beach bar. The location is perfect for watching the sun go down over a cold drink. Bar staff are ever so friendly. Atmosphere is great, couldn't stay away.

Must do the sunset dinner! Great bar area and music, traditional dinner, and best spot to see the sunset on the island

What a fun little bar! Limited menu and we only tried the cheese plate (yummy!) and a couple of cocktails, but the atmosphere is delightful and there was some great live music. Sunset location and right on the beach!

Kia Orana, Thank you for your great review. In respect to our menu, please remember that we are a beach bar. We offer good basic food that is entirely in keeping with a beach bar. We are not a 5 star restaurant and we don't pretend to be. I really wish that TripAdvisor had a category for beach bars rather... More

We have been several times in the Shipwreck Hut to enjoy a drink at the beach and to watch the sunset. The drinks tasted good and have been a big portion. The meals have been ok, here we recommend the cheese platter if you like blue cheese or camembert. The service ladies are absolutely funny and always in good mood.... More

This was my favorite bar in Raro, the staff were friendly, the cocktails were great and a nice price too. The cheese board was very good value as well. But most of all the view was amazing here, watching the sunset, listening to live ukelele music and sipping a margarita was the perfect way to end the day. Definitely recommend... More

Myself and my other half didn't stay here but we did go down every day for three days in a row and ate and drank there all day. Definitely were the only people there on two occasions. Kia Orana Thank you for your review. Very pleased that you enjoyed the bar and our fantastic cocktails. Description
The Shipwreck Hut is an authentic beach bar situated right on the sand at the Aro'a Beachside Inn. Perfectly positioned to enjoy sunsets that are the envy of the South Pacific while sipping one of the famous "jam-jar cocktails". We also offer cold beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and "home cooked" bar meals. We serve our bar meals from 5:00pm until 8:00pm (but not on BBQ nights). Saturday - Beach BBQ 6:00pm with live music. Tuesday - Live music 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday - Live music "Sunset Cocktails" 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Exactly what you would expect from a fun loving beach bar in the South Pacific.
