With my wife, sister and niece (5) for an early Xmas lunch. Really nice place inside and right on the beach which was beautiful even on a cold December day. I had the Xmas special turkey and all the trimmings and it was probably the...More

We didn't dine here but just popped in for a drink. Very cosy pub with friendly staff. Seems to be a hidden gem! If we hadn't been told about it we would have missed it.

Popped in here for an un-booked late lunch and got a lovely cosy table next to the fire. Lovely to be able to take the dog inside on cold horrible day. I don't understand why people have issues with well behaved dogs just sitting there....More

The Ship Inn in Elie is a bit of an institution. Visited it for lunch having walked 6 miles along the Fife Coastal Path from Anstruther. It is an attractive place, very quaint on the outside and tastefully refurbished on the inside. I had Cullen...More

Lovely setting and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Would recommend booking ahead as it could get very busy during high season. Would have given a higher rating but some of the dishes were but as warm as they should have been. That said I would go...More

After a long walk on Elie beach, we retired here on a Saturday afternoon for a few beers. Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff & comfortable seating to rest the feet. Beautifully decorated, this pub is a true gem!

Have been past many times with the dog, lovely place for a stop, but maybe dropped the ball today. It's always busy so perhaps this leads to the following comment. Was in yesterday after a walk with the dogs. Ordered a spot of lunch, mushroom...More

Overpriced lamb dish with very little meat. Many things off including skinny fries! Waitress didn’t know potatoes served with lamb, yet it was difficult to find the meat amongst the carb. Very disappointing. Staff eager to get rid of us around 9.

The Ship Inn at Elie in Fife has long been one of Scotland's most iconic pubs, famous for its great views, stunning location, and even as the only pub in the world to have a cricket team with a pitch on the beach. The owners, Graham and Rachel Bucknall, who also run the Bridge Inn at Ratho (named as AA Pub of the Year in September 2014) purchased the Ship Inn, a pub they both knew very well, in late 2014. After a major 6-month renovation programme, they re-opened a transformed Ship Inn in the summer of 2015. 6 beautiful bedrooms were opened in March 2016. The inn is part of a row of old cottages by the harbour. At its heart is the bar where the comfy chairs and sofas beside the open fires and wood-burning stoves make a welcome sight, especially when it's windy and rainy outside. You are more than welcome just to call in for a coffee, but it's worth stopping longer for a pint, a whisky or a meal in the upstairs restaurant with its views of the bay. The same menu is offered throughout the inn - and if you have your dog with you, he or she is very welcome to join you downstairs - water, treats and even dog beds are provided. The food is of the hearty pub variety, but seafood, locally caught, is high on the menu. Graham and Rachel have also created delightful double and twin bedrooms, all with views of Elie Bay and the Firth of Forth. The Ship Inn is unique in the fact that it has the only cricket team in the UK that plays matches on the beach. From May to September, depending on the tide and after the sand has been rolled flat, the Ship's team hosts matches for other Scottish teams and touring teams from all over the world.
