Reviews all spoke to the terribly slow service, but experiencing it was really awful. We were the only customers for the first hour and a half, the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. We waited an hour for the first appetizer to be served. The food was...good, but very expensive. One appetizer, two entrees, one glass of wine, came to $93 US. By the time we left (after 2 hours), there were a few more people there, but the atmosphere was pretty dead.More

My friend and I tried many highly rated restaurants on Guadeloupe, but this one ranks at the top in my book. It is situated just off the main road, north of the center of Bouillante. We had a spectacular meal! The chef-owner was on site, and...it was clear that he puts his love of good ingredients and good spices ( he owns an adjoining herb nursery that sells many plants) into every dish. The menu changes daily, but includes several fish dishes and one or two beef dishes. We ordered roasted langouste, which is expensive, as it is all over the island, and had our choice of small or large lobsters. Two small ones cost 80 euros altogether ( each weighed about 500 grams) and were, quite simply, the best I’ve ever had in the Islands. The accompanying vegetables— mashed sweet potatoes, gratineed tomato, and a purée of christophine flavored with papaya — were terrific. We shared an amazing dessert consisting of a mango gateaux, a homemade lime sorbet and a delicious bit of meringue. The restaurant sits atop a bluff overlooking the ocean and, while an ocean view isn’t possible inside the dining room, cool breezes blow through and make the room very comfortable. I recommend this restaurant very highly.More

Our family had very nice dinner here. Great and juicy lion fish or lamb ribs. Both meals accompanied with local side dishes. Creme brulée was a perfect dessert and presented nicely.

The lunch was served in a warm atmosphere with live music and local songs. The food well presented was very good and original. I particularly appreciate lion fish. It was the time for me to test this fish. The cooking was perfect and the taste...was excellent. I strongly recommend this restaurant. The service is a bit slow, but preparing good food is a time consuming process.More

We went there with good expectations according to the TA reviews. From the beginning, we were given the choice between 2 tables we didn't like that much, considering many other better placed were available. We were told they were reserved (... didn't see anyone there...throughout our dinner...). Planteur was great. Service was... OK. The young and inexperienced waiter wanted to do well, but made too much, a bit in a clumsy way. Food was OK too. Fish not cooked as required when the waiter asked for it, which was a deception, but we were offered one planteur for this. Staff was nice Overall OK, but don't try to look like a 5 star restaurant, just stay simple, but good :)More

O Z'Epices was recommended to us as possibly the best restaurant on Basse-Terre. It didn't disappoint! From the care and attention we received from our host, to the magnificent presentation and imaginative dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, this restaurant was brilliant from beginning to...end. Despite the incredible range of fruits and vegetables which grow in Guadeloupe, often vegan-friendly food places are hard to come by, but not so at O Z'Epices where we were treated the the absolute best of the island's local produce.More

Stopped by after seeing along the N2 several times. Looked promising, unfortunately, that is about all that was promising. Wife and I both ordered the grilled Marlin. Both were overcooked and dry, almost like they had been previously cooked and reheated, and the cream of...chives sauce had no semblance of chives taste, or look to it. Both our amuse bouche and mains were missing items, guess nobody was working the pass through. Not worth the 22 Euro. We saw many tables sending food back, and even one gentleman's lunch was served without sauce, the server had to bring it out after. The live band playing Sunday at lunch was very good, but a little loud, and overpowered the room a bit. The wait staff seemed very confused, everybody was trying to do everything for every table. We were shown the menu board several times by different servers, they only seemed to have one corkscrew for the entire room, causing confusion on who had it, and saw many bottles go unopened for 20 mins or more, after being delivered to the table. We were also never offered bread at any point. The lunch we had at the beach shack at Plage de Grande Anse the next day for 10 Euro was much better.More

Really top notch world class cuisine with a serious Guadaloupean twist. One eats well in Gwada, it's France after all, but wow, flavour, presentation, selection, service... not to be missed if in the Bouillante area, worth driving to from anywhere... Unfortunately for us, in our...week there, we only managed to go once since they are closed Sunday through Tuesday nights and we were busy during the days. Truly fabulous...More

Fairly simple menu. Fish, meat, and pasta dishes. Well prepared, and presented. Very light and airy building on the main road on the west side, but elevated, and a fair distance from the road, so traffic noise was of no consequence.

Very good food and excellent customer service. The wait staff took time to explain the menu and the Chef came out to talk to us. They were very accommodating with the kids.
