Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tonight we went to the restaurant and had some nice dim sum with drinks to start and ordered half a Peking duck. This was duly shown to us and we got some slivers of the duck in pancakes and a side plate of duck stir...fry. What happened to the other 95% of the half duck we were shown? I feel VERY RIPPED OFF :-(More

An elegant dining experience. The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. I was staying in the hotel, so it was an easy pick, but definitely better than most restaurants associated with hotels.

A very fine chinese restaurant on the highest floor of Intercontinental Yokohama hotel. The service is very good and the food also.

Firstly I can start off with the positives. The view from the 31st floor was great. We were lucky to have a nice clear night and a table next to the window so we could fully take in the view. The food was good. The...sautéed chicken was fully of flavour and the shrimp dumplings were also good. However on the slightly negative side the sweet and sour pork my dad had ordered didn't come out with the rest of our food. We asked the waiter who said it was coming. In my view honesty is the best policy and if you've forgotten just admit it. What we observed was a mini staff meeting to check what we ordered and another 20 minute wait (i.e. they forgot the order). So in the end we sent it back. The biggest disappointment though was the Beijing duck. My wife is Chinese and we've lived in Hong Kong and China for the past 6 years. I'm a realist so I'm not expecting the same as what I've had in Beijing but there were two things I wish to point out. First they didn't realise that one of the fun parts of ordering Beijing duck is seeing the half or whole duck on a plate and making your own pancakes. Some people like different pieces of duck meat and different levels of sauce and vegetables. Secondly whilst we ordered half a duck we didn't get half a duck. Having had duck many times I know what half a duck looks like, especially when paying almost 9,000 Yen. The above two points are why I've only given a two star rating as whilst it had plenty of promise those two items were really disappointing for the premier restaurant in a hotel.More

It is maybe my fault that I've got very high expectations about this restaurant. I mean it was really good, especially the view but somehow the food didn't blow my mind. It was good, tasty but nothing I would come back for. However, the atmosphere...is great, view is fantastic, and staff very polite and profesional. You won't regret if you visit Karyu.More

It's my first visit to Japan. Staying at Intercontinental and this restaurant is on top floor of of Intercontinental. In this hotel I found this restaurant to be the best. With fantastic view overlooking the bay the food is good and tasty. I went to...his restaurant twice till day as I am still staying in the hotel .... it's a good choice of Chinese food. They have good variation of sharks fin, birds nest and Lobster. On price I can't compare as I haven't been to restaurant outside this place.More

Karyu - literally meaning the fire dragon - is an excellent chinese restaurant at the top floor of the Tokyo Bay InterContinental Hotel with a fabulous view on Tokyo Bay. Great service. Fixed menu with a choice of main course was 👌 perfect!

Except for the beautiful view everything else about this restaurant was greatly disappointing. Despite having a reservation (that we were 5 minutes early for), and with an almost empty restaurant, they tried to seat us at a table farthest from the window and near the...kitchen, the service was extremely slow, food mediocre with small portions and the most expensive Chinese meal we've ever had ($80 for 2 of us with no leftovers). My $10 "glass" of wine was about 2-3 ounces (no joke)! As a California girl I realize that I may be a bit spoiled regarding wine but I've had free tastings with that much wine. And for $80 (in San Diego) we could feed 8 people with leftovers. I can't believe the other high ratings this restaurant has received. I may have to rethink putting my trust in TripAdvisor.More

While in Yokohama for a conference, I had dinner at Karyu in the Intercontinental Grand hotel. The food was absolutely fabulous and priced reasonably. The ambiance was really great and I regretted that I had discovered the restaurant the last night in Yokohama.
