Just happen to pass by and there is no Q. Strong favour and soup is more to salty. Just normal ramen.

10/10 was the consensus from our team of travellers. The ramen was delicious (splash out for the premium - it won't disappoint!) and the seating was fun (we all sat at a long table with the individual seating dividers folded away). The ramen was delivered...through a slot from the kitchen - brilliant! Don't worry if there is a queue - it will move quickly. Highly recommended!More

Not a big fan of ramen but this is the best I've had. A great experience where you're told to focus on the flavour of the food with minimum distractions

Good ramen and a cool atmosphere. A little bit of que to get in, but that just brought extra spice to the expectations. Recommended for everyone who wants to try ramen.

Came here on a rainy day - ramen weather! The line wasn't long so we got inside quickly. The procedure was simple - you pick want you want on the kiosk, pay (in cash or your Suica card) and then take your ticket. Once you...sit down, you put your ticket on the edge of the table next to the window for the server to take. You also choose how you want your noodles cooked, strength of the broth, etc. The ramen was deliciously satisfying - rich fatty broth, soft chashu and firm noodles. It was a great way to warm up on a chilly rainy day. Lastly, I love that each stall has a water tap.More

The original still taste the best, the quality of the food doesn't change over these years. the thick rich broth adds to the chewy noodles, makes the ramen a complete enjoyment. you choose how they cook your ramen..

Definitely the type of Japanese experience you want to have. You get in, order your food at a machine and then eat in a cabin. The food is tasty and fairly priced. The full ramen menu was a bit too big for us. The only...downside is that you have to wait in line to enter.More

Heard about this for awhile and finally tried in in Tokyo. I can choose the texture and taste level to customize it to my liking. It was easy to get seat since I was alone but note that it is not ideal for large groups...since it is individual cubicle separated by wooden partitions. But you would just eat and leave when done, so even if queues are long, the waiting time is not that scary.More

Ueno is such a wonderful part of Tokyo -- museums, zoo, and shrines -- and Ichiran is the perfect place to retreat from the cultural and enjoy the culinary. The ramen were delicious -- and papared exactly according to our specificiations, though I felt the..."extra" egg I ordered was a bit overcooked. Not much to quibble about -- about 10 times better than any/all ramen in NYC.More

This was my first visit to Ichiran and it did not disappoint. There was a bit of a queue when I arrived at lunch time, but it moved quickly. The seating here is the classic individual Ichiran booths and there isn't a lot of leg...room - I'm 179cm/5'10", and it was a squeeze. Loved the ramen! Well balanced, typical tonkotsu broth. I'm a garlic lover so I got the max amount of garlic, which was a good level. I got firm noodles & they were great. The noodles are very thin and they will continue to cook in the piping hot broth, mine were definitely softer by the time I was half-way through. Next time I'll get extra firm.More

Me and my family went on a week trip to Tokyo, and our first dinner was in Ichiran in Ueno and I can only say .. we had an amazing welcome in Tokyo :-) This restaurant does not just offer the BEST RAMEN but they...also offer a different and the coolest dining experience. Expect a long queue when you visit, but trust me it moves fast :-) A staff will give you the order form to tick on your preferences with the noodles and soup and also for extra orders. The queue is not just outside the restaurant, when you pass the door and enter - this is where you will “key-in” your order and pay thru a vending machine. Then right after, you wait for any available seat from any of their dining rooms. Once you enter, you seat and someone by the small window will get your order form and receipt of payment (you will not see them coz it is a very small window) All other guests are busy enjoying their Ramen, it is quiet, no talking and all you can hear is the slurping of their soup (cool yeah?) Then your order will be served thru that small window and it closes - then it is your turn to enjoy your heavenly made Ramen. Am not a Ramen expert but I have had my share of Ramen and I can confidently say that they serve the best ever. Once you finish, you leave and wait for your friends/family outside in order for other guests to have their turn. The concept is so cool.... Everybody enjoys their Ramen in peace. The best!!!!!!More

I've been eating at Ichiran Ramen whenever I visit Japan but sadly I keep forgetting writing this Exceptional review for Ichiran. I've tried a couple of branches in Shinjuku, Fukuoka and just recently Ueno. The branch at Ueno is just outside JR Ueno Station opposite...side of the famous Ameyoko market. Luckily we went on weeknight and the line was not that long. In about 20 mins from the main door we were ushered in to our private single style table with a small square bamboo window to get your food, drinks and pay money. Before you order a slip was handed out to us to select the richness of our broth, texture of the noodles, spicyness of the ramen, and additional ingredients. Just like other Japanese restaurants they have vending machines in front to select and pay for your order. Once you have your table you can present the ticket and choice slip to the staff. If you need additional order, you could request via the order slip and pay right at your table. The Ramen, originated from Fukuoka is an authentic Tonkotsu ramen, made from pork bone broth. I selected mild flavours and texture and they didn't disappoint.. The broth is well balanced and not very salty. The noodles are right medium in texture. The ingredients are fresh and spot on. Even if you mix them you could still taste their individual flavours. This is what makes Ichiran authentic and delicious, even if I'm full I don't feel salty and bloated - I feel fresh. I added additional noodles and char siew pork to finish my broth. I also ordered a Green tea matcha pudding, which is divine not too sweet very well flavoured and has firm density. Overall my order is just around 890 Yen for the regular ramen and additional 800 yen for the side dishes. After dinner our stomachs are full and very happy we got to experience this amazing Ramen which started in 1960's in Fukuoka. Next time you visit Japan do drop by Ichiran, you will have the best meal in your life.More

This is a fabulous place to eat! The fun begins with ordering and paying at the machine. Just select what you want, tick boxes to select your flavour preferences then take your ticket into your personal booth. Food appears quickly, it’s hot and delicious!

I really enjoyed their creamy and spicy ramen and found it great that it could be customized. An interesting experience. And I liked the tea too. Would visit again.

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old

Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
