On a day out with friends I brought two friends to Morrisseys having discovered they had never been there before. And what a surprise for them. They just loved everything about the pub. So interesting looking at all the old memorbelia. And the pictures to...check out. We were lucky to meet a Grandson of a Man who worked there so he gave us a lot of information. And the Guinness was so good. And Shane was an excellent barman - so friendly & chatty. A really pleasant visit that my friends will be talking about for a while.More

This used to be the jewel in the crown of Irish pubs, but it has taken on a neglected aspect. It is tired and dreary and in dire need of some TLC. Loud dance music in mid-afternoon was utterly incongruous. I used to recommend a...trip to Morrisseys to all visitors to Ireland, but the days when it won pub of the year (2004) seem very far away.More

Visited here with a few friends mid week, We ordered food and a few pints. We were greeted kindly at first but as our time there went on we felt less and less welcome here. My friend had to wait a hour for a pizza,...infairness it was very nice he said. There was a very "snappy" lad behind the bar in his 20s I’d imagine, he had no manners and was very rude towards my friend. We knew we were running up a tab and we were being constantly reminded as if we were planning on doing a runner??? Then a young blonde haired lady comes over to our table and shouts "your done"???. We were then told we couldn’t have any more drinks until we closed our tab which we were perfectly fine with and asked to pay on multiple occasions but still nobody brought out our bill! (This is during Covid 19 and you cant approach the bar as its strict table service.) Eventually a younger lad comes over and has half our orders on his docket book the rest of our order they didn’t know cause it wasn’t on the till so we had to repeat roughly a whole bill that comprised of 4 hours dining! I have attached a picture of our bill. Very unprofessional needless to say won’t be back again!More

Absolutely beautiful old traditional pub. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Could have a bigger selection of red wine (one option) but the traditional decor and fantastic Guinness more than made up for it!

Grand spot for a quiet pint and sandwich. Was there many years ago and pleased to say that they haven't changed it.

Went in for a drink but was not at all impressed with this public house, it was very dark and dreary and perhaps needs dragging into 21st century

I recently stopped in Morrisseys pub for a couple of pints one Saturday afternoon whilst visiting friends in Abbeyleix. I was shocked at the noise of the place and poor service of one of the barstaff. Two large TV's blaring, racing on one , rugby...on the other, no problem there. However, both were blended into a meaningless drone by some overly loud dance music. I was appalled, shocked and angered at the poor attitude, rudeness and disrespect shown by one young barman, this slender beanpole of a young man had to be summoned from his slouch in the doorway, so I could ask for a pint. when he came over he curtly asked "what do you want?" , I apologetically replied a pint of cider! Shaking his head he reluctantly poured me a pint and without a please or thank you he snatched my money, and almost threw my change across the counter. He was equally as unpleasant to two other customers a few minutes later. I have to stress not all of the staff here were like this, most seemed fine. The staff here used to be super, WOW what a change, it used to be a standout venue. I am very unlikely to return . I also had Pizza- average at best.More

Loved its authentic decor an we got to sit outside. Inside a little dark an poky (maze like) but toilets an general cleanliness need attention. Staff really helpful and friendly.

Stopped in here yesterday on way home and was very disappointed. Service was deplorable bar tender was lazy and inattentive, Guinness was excellent but that’s about all to recommend the place . Did notice a slight change in staff quality when new staff came in...but won’t be going back. People coming in had to ask for tables to be cleared, when we arrived the bar was littered with dirty glasses and staff at far end chatting, pity I had fond memories of the place but it’s definitely not what it used to be ,More

We had a couple of hours to kill during the day and stopped off here for coffees/drinks. The interior is quite extraordinary, old wood panels, posters, groceries behind the bar etc. You'll be hard pushed to find anywhere quite like it
