For many years this family owned restaurant has had live bands and was packed most weekends. you had to book well in advance. This time things were a bit different. It was easy to get a table, and as expected with the pandemic tables were...spread apart. The famous dory mussel bar was replaced and mussels added as a new item to the menu. But don't let that stop you. The food was as great as I remembered as a child and the service top notch. So glad we were able to treat ourselves on our "staycation"down the south shore.More

A Tired Tradition

A good place for a traditional lobster dinner - lots of mussels and a steamed lobster. The Shore Club offers a self serve salad bar and unlimited mussels before the arrival of your lobster. You can also opt for a steak, chicken or pasta or...just the salad bar and mussels. The one-price experience includes dessert and self serve water, coffee and tea - notice that everything other than the lobster and dessert is self serve. The food was all good and fresh - the desserts are the highlight, especially the lemon cake. The only drawbacks were the jaded indifference of the staff which is a hazard of serving the hordes of never-to-be-seen-again tourists and the tired physical facility which is in desperate need of an update. We won’t be back this trip as we have found a much more inviting (newer, cleaner, wonderful staff and better cooked and cheaper) place for lobster.More

I don't get it.

We went here in Sepember, 2019 as it is rated well on Trip Advisor. Disappointed would be an understatement. We paid $160.00 for two lobsters and two beers. The salad bar could have been poured directly out of the bags you can buy in the...supermarket. The salad dressings reminded me somehow of the army in 1967. The bread was again just the cheap supermarket kind. So, if you want to dump that kind of bucks for that in a place that has the ambience of an army mess hall, this is your place. I do try to be fair in these reviews but this place is a major disconnect from it's ratings. It is at best just average and overpriced by a country mile.More

First Lobster of our trip!

Not fancy, but a great place to get a whole lobster. We enjoyed our evening, and would have have liked to stay for the live music later.

Family lobster dinner

as part of a family reunion, we all gathered at The Shore Club for a lobster dinner. we Ontario newbies had to watch our experienced Maritime family members show us how to crack and eat the lobster, but we soon figured it out and enjoyed...a delicious meal ! endless salad bar and mussels, and cold beer ! after supper we enjoyed a walk around the grounds and saw a great sunset over the water.More

Excellent

We were looking for a place near Chester Basin to have a lobster supper. This place didn't disappoint. The food was great and the staff were friendly. A young man playing a fiddle on stage just boosted the experience. Loved it

Still an excellent experience

We returned to the Shore Club lobster suppers after several years and were delighted to find it is as great as it always has been. The lobster was cooked to perfection and mussels were fresh out of the ocean that day and some of the...best I've ever had. Salad bar is an excellent compliment to the tradition of the Nova Scotian lobster supper. Also there was live fiddle music the night we were there! Will surely return again and again.More

This was a disapointing experiance

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the meal left something to be desired. I went with a group of 6, none of our steaks were cooked as requested; they were all charred shoe leather. The salad bar was lacking. Mayo based, basic...salads and a plain "garden" salad. Very poor value for the money it cost ($40 for a lobster that was under a pound). My group left hungry and disappointed.More

It was okay

The atmosphere is exactly what you expect for a Lobster Supper place. Very clean, kinda cramped, basic. The mussels, all-you-can-eat... yes but they were constantly running out, so a very long line when they replenished so often we had to wait again. Also, they give...you a cardboard bin to get them. Butter comes in a tiny plastic cup. Salad bar is something you would see at a friends potluck dinner. They all tasted the same. I love salad bars, I didn’t like this one. The Lobster was delicious, I got the 2 lb. one and it looked small. In my opinion very overpriced. $56.95. $25.95 for the Salad bar and mussels. The service was great, everyone was friendly. The dessert was small but tasty. Small was good. I wouldn’t go back but if you want good Lobster I’d say try it if you are in the area.More

I have recently heard that your food is great but that there are some paintings of dark skinned people that might give one pause, especially if, like me, your family is mixed race. What is the intention of these strangely painted poles in the restaurant? Who were they painted by? What are they meant to depict?

I don’t recall these pictures. With respect to service, our experience was more like being in their home than their restaurant. Everyone was fantastic. We would go back in a minute.
