You will never forget the meals you have here. Inventive ways with fish, meat and vegetables, and the desserts are out of this world. Perfection!

Loved the charming old building and setting for this place, but was slightly disappointed with the food and service.More

This was a beautiful place to stay! Very comfortable B & B with a highly rated French restaurant. It's a little off the road, but easy to get to and from if you rent a car. Surrounded by beautiful plantation land and interesting old industrial...ruins that look like sculptures. Great food, comfortable room that is beautifully appointed, with huge shuttered windows that we left open to the breeze. The chef and hostess do not speak much English, so it might be difficult to converse with no French, but very worth while because it is an elegant, peaceful, oasis that is well situated near charming towns and beautiful beaches.More
to be fair, our French is very poor. We had difficulty communicating, but we were very careful to make sure that we were avoiding oysters on my mother's order as she is allergic to them. When she was served the plate did have oysters and...she could not eat the meal. She asked to have the meal deducted from the bill and was refused. The server was very nice, but the service was very slow. It was our worst dining experience on our two week vacation.More
We had the prix fixe and everything was excellent: gazpacho, salad with beignets, lamb, curried swordfish, profiteroles, and coconut three ways. Accompanied by a fantastic sancerre. Highly recommended.
For some reason, many restaurants are closed on Tuesday evenings and so we found this restaurant by accident just trying to find something open in the area. I am so glad that we did because it was by far the best meal we had during...our one week stay in Guadeloupe. The restaurant was not busy - only a few tables were occupied - which made us uncertain at first, but we quickly realized that we found a true gem. Our server was excellent, unfortunately I forgot his name, but that's my fault. We don't speak much French and he was able to walk us through the menu. We chose the fixed price menu which had a huge selection and was a great value! Definitely check this restaurant out if you are in the area, it is worth a visit!More
I don't come to the Caribbean for the food, I come for the sun, sand, surf and warmth after the long Montreal winter. Plus, being a Montrealer, I am spoiled with so many exceptional restaurants within 15 minutes of my home. All that being said,...L'Habitation du Compte stood out as a delicious and wonderful dinner destination for anyone visiting the northern end of Basse Terre. The wide selection of locally produced rum gave us an enjoyable aperitif, while the 25 euro chef's selection menu provided 2 courses of such delights as seafood in puff pastry with a lightly curried sauce and grilled Marlin steak with coconut, Chinese cabbage, and peanut. The service was attentive, discreet and helpful. The simple tables overlooked a teal blue pool and jazz in the background set a relaxed yet elegant mood. We just couldn't manage dessert, sadly, but maybe tomorrow night. Yes, I could go back again, and I definitely recommend this place highly to anyone else looking for something beyond beach brochettes and hamburgers. Yum yum!!More
By far the best meal of our trip! The service was excellent, the surroundings serene and the food was fantastic - expertly prepared and plated. I had the tuna and my husband had the duck and we couldn't decide which we liked better!
We had two nights in Sainte Rose and we went to this restaurant both evenings. The first time it was by chance, but the experience was so outstanding that nothing else would do for the second evening. The chef is magnificent. His dishes are a...mix of western with local undertones and ingredients.Any appetizer (entree) goes with any main course (plat). The flavors are subtle but very harmonious. Even the humble "accra", which is served in all the local restaurants, has a twist and a subtlety of its own. The deserts are all fantastic, but ask for the "cafe gourmand" and you will be blown away. It comes with a selection of five sweets that surpass anybody's expectations. The service was beyond reproach, The waiter was so efficient and polished, a prestigious restaurant anywhere in the world would be lucky to have him. The setting is a 1940s grand villa with a slightly dusty charm, built in the middle of the sugar cane fields (go to the site to see its story). The dining area is poolside and the atmosphere is very intimate. Two notes: (1) it would be good to call and make a reservation even if it is the same day and (2) if you go at night, make sure you do not miss the sign that shows you where to turn for it, The main road is very dark and you might miss the turn.More
We selected the 2 course meal option for 25 euros and couldn't believe the portions, not to mention the delicious quality of the dinner. We had an octopus appetizer with puff pastry, and a foie gras appetizer. The lamb shank and fish main courses were...served with various sides and also good. We didn't have room for dessert but they were very tempting. With a bottle of wine and water our bill was less than 100 euros.More
