The restaurant is the biggest open log cabin in Europe, and has amazing feel to it inside and outside The entrance has a large lobby for snow coats, the kelp is only around 5-10 mins max walking from the log cabin. The restaurant was part...of Canterbury travel package and services the log cabins only. The breakfast it’s a buffet style it was half ok, cereal, a selection of fruit, toast jams ect and eggs and bacon with beans. Apple Juice and fresh orange and tea an coffee. Nothing exciting but served the purpose. Lunch - Very basic staple food, we had sausage and mash with chips and chicken nuggets. Desert was cake or ice cream. Dinner - Again not amazing each night was different, a selection of meats , cheese, deserts. The staff are nice and very attentive to serve, the pride for beer is around 10 euro for a pint and 10 euro for a gin and tonic. We was there for the magic and not really alcohol and food, we had a few drinks each night and didn’t spent any more on anything else while on our trip so the prices were justified.More
Lovely cabin building, lovely Christmas ambiance, unfortunately the food wasn’t great it was edible and that’s it. Drinks very expensive €50 bottle of wine €8 beer. Staff friendly but needs to improve food quality and variety my 7 year old was fed up of chips
To get to the Kelo you have to negotiate a bit of a climb up a steep hillside road. The Kelo is a large log cabin well laid out and cosy. We took our breakfasts there as part of our tour. Alcohilic beverage prices tend...to be high, but this is the norm for Scandinavia.More
i have just visited luosto on a santa trip with canterbury travel and the kelo was our main restaurant for eating usually breakfast and dinner.I was not expecting fine dining but there was a poor variety of food on offer and of poor quality it...was sometimes guess the food and at the last "special" xmas dinner we were expecting turkey and the trimmings and we thought we had been given ham slices and had to go back to the serving tables to read the labels to see it said turkey and i don't think it would stand up to a DNA test. Generally i found the food very poor and all drinks had to be purchased and are very expensive. i have travelled a great deal this year and it is the first poor food review i have had to write I don't know if the rest of finland has the same poor quality food but if you have any food allergies or requirements i would certainly check things before you go.More
We went as part of the Canterbury group. The staff were very friendly and there was a variety of food served as buffet including local dishes and common general dishes for the unadventurous.
We were offered a special new years eve dining here in the Kelo, as part of a Canterbury Travel group. Firstly we were told to arrive between 5.30 and 7.30 but to get there early! We arrived at 6 , having be promised a "pre...reserved table" we were shown to a long table that sat 12 and given 4 seats. The buffett it self was pretty good for starters, lots of choice, the main course was strip steak, bbq ribs or veggie spring rolls, with baked potatoes, kids were offered hotdog and fries. Dessert were for the masses, under flavoured and not home made. We had reasonable service to start with a drinks order quickly delivered, then just as we finished out main course they bought the drinks bill, with no option of having another. As it turned out, there was a 2nd sitting coming in and they wanted us in, fed and gone by 7.30/8pm. So we left, at 7.15pm it made for a very long NYE!!More
Again this place is block booked by Canterbury in December, which means there are very few places to eat in Luosto at this time of year
A very short walk up a hillside is the lovely Kell restaurant. Went there as part of our holiday with Canterbury Travel. Great friendly service. The staff are very polite and speak ver good English. The restaurant is large and with plenty of space to...take off those outer layers.More
We ate here for breakfast as part of our package with Canterbury Travel whilst staying in a cabin. Breakfast was fine - fairly basic (hot items, cereal, bread, cheese etc). There are basic hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot water). Diners serve themselves as it’s a...buffet style. It’s nothing outstanding but it’s fine for a basic breakfast. We didn’t eat here for any other meals so we don’t know what they are like. The restaurant is a lovely setting - a log cabin and has a lovely atmosphere. It’s very clean, and the toilets are clean and well maintained.More
Fantastic food and great friendly service the people here are all so friendly and will do anything for you.mwell done fantastic service
Very good service and atmosphere is perfect. We had company party and I can't imagine better place. Quality of food is great!
We dined in the Kelo on Tuesday and Friday evening for dinner and was a lovely atmosphere. The decor was beautiful and kept to the rustic, homely and cosy theme. The food is buffet style and is sufficient... nothing overly fancy but all was presented...beautifully. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed our evenings dinning here.More
Warm & filling - just what you need for a busy day out in the snow and a nice quick walk from the log cabins
We used the Kelo Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and evening meal as part of our trip with Canterbury Travel. There was very limited choice and the quality was not great. My 5 year old daughter struggled to find food that she liked as a lot...of the meals had a sauce and were heavily seasoned. The foot was buffet style and often one of the main items would be empty and sometimes it took ages for them to be restocked. The waiter service for drinks was slow and the drinks were very expensive. I wouldn't describe myself as a fussy eater but I would say I was eating for nutrition and certainly not pleasure. If the food had been better we would probably been more tempted to spend on drinks. It was good that coffee was included in all meals. Considering how much we paid for the holiday and the quality of the other elements I was disappointed with the food. I was not expecting gourmet but I was expecting better.More
