We have gone to Merridale cider over the past few years because it is unique with its apple orchard surrounding the restaurant and excellent apple cider produced onsite. On our recent New Year's day visit, the food was disappointing ! The eggs benedict was served cold and my pizza had a thick crust that must have come out of the... More

Hi VancouverKitsilano, Thank you for visiting Merridale during the past few years, we appreciate your continued business. I'm sorry to hear that you had a disappointing brunch on New Year's Day and I will be sure to pass your feedback on to our culinary team. I can assure you that we continue to make our pizzas entirely in-house, but we... More

We visit here a few times a year, often with visiting guests. Our latest visit was for Christmas Eve brunch, so our party ranged in age from 70 to 4. We could order from both the brunch and lunch menus that day. The house-made charcuterie was excellent - we were glad to have added it for the table - and... More

If you find yourself in the Cowichan Valley the Merridale Cider restaurant is worth a detour. The cider tasting experience is fun and their products tasty. The restaurant however exceeds these with its diversity and quality. The locale is lovely and to me, the icing on a fine dining experience.

My girl friend and I went for lunch - we were pleasantly surprised at the choice of food and sampled the wine - all very good!

Upon arriving at merridale I was enthralled with the beautiful property, but my positive experience ended there. I entered the bistro area and made my way to the bar to inquire about a tasting. I was greeted rudely by one of the staff, I was told to "wait just a moment" while said staff member returned to what appeared to... More

The establishment is run horribly, servers are very rude especially the manager. The place is gorgeous, its a shame its being run as bad as it is.

The property is beautiful. I would say magical too with some stories about fairies and tiny houses a little bit everywhere on the site, altough it would be nice if someone would look after them. They look a bit neglected. The only reason why I don't give a rating of 4 ; we made a reservation 3 weeks before the... More

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you had that experience on such a special evening at our place. That definitely sounds disappointing. As for the pizza, usually we're good about accommodating special requests in the bistro, but it sounds like we fell down that day. Glad you enjoyed your cider. We hope you'll give us an opportunity to... More

It is a drive out through the countryside to Merridale Cider. It is cider and actually they produce some of the best. Like wine, cider is affected by your palate. It is a great outing to experience an Island produced product. Sure you can get it in the liquor store but it is so much better to taste and experience... More

First off, you get there by heading north west from Mill Bay, and once off the highway, you drive along a beautiful country road. This place is unique. You can spend a lot of time here: touring the cider processing area, wandering through the apple orchard to find the fairy village, having an amazing meal in the beautifully decorated restaurant,... Wow! Thank you for such a thoughtful review of Merridale. We appreciate that you took the time to describe the many things we do on site--the yurts, bistro, orchard, faeries, weddings, bakery. It takes great effort, passion, and attention to keep all the parts moving and we're always striving to maintain a high standard in all we do. Thank you... More

We visited this restaurant twice over a 3 day span. The property grounds are beautiful! We went for pizza on Sunday night & for lunch the following Wednesday. The service on pizza night was extremely quick. The crusts must be pre-baked as delivery to the table was within 5 minutes. Taste was equal to pizza you can purchase from a... More

Thank you for your feedback. While we take pride in what we do, it sounds like we really disappointed you and your guests. We're so sorry to hear about your illness and we regret any discomfort that caused. We see that you're in Saskatoon so it's unlikely we'll see you again to have you give us another chance. Description
As you travel up or down Vancouver Island, stop in at our orchard bistro for lunch. Enjoy local cuisine, a large patio overlooking our orchard, and, of course, apple cider hand crafted just steps from the bistro's kitchen. Located in the middle of a working cider farm, this unique Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider pairings and seasonal menu items inspired by nearby Cowichan Valley farmers, vintners, and cheese-makers. The restaurant has two eating areas. You'll find the main room with its traditional fieldstone fireplace and spacious tables. The main restaurant also features a granite cider tasting bar - perfect for a cider and some conversation while your lunch is being prepared. Guests can also enjoy their meal on the large covered patio where you will find plenty of outdoor space to sit with friends, sip coffee, or sample ciders and local wines.
