Service was excellent as is the food. Excellent baked bread from wood fired oven. They have a pizza day made in wood fired oven that we have heard is really good. We live a couple of miles from it. Beautiful grounds with apple trees. They have Yurts that you can stay overnight in. They host a lot of weddings on... More

We enjoyed a late lunch here on New Year's Day. They make excellent apple cider here so a bottle of the scrumpy cider complemented our meals. My chicken pot pie was very tasty although it could have used more vegetables. Don't order the pizza until the wood fired pizza oven is running !

We visited Merridale Bistro over the holidays and wow....what an amazing experience from our arrival at Merridale to leaving. The location in all its holiday glory was idyllic. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, our food order was timely and delicious and the staff and service were exceptional. I highly recommend a visit to Merridale Bistro if you are looking... More

I attended a company Christmas dinner on December 16. We were placed in an area of the dinning room that is clearly not designed for winter; the only heating was an overhead heat-pipe like the kind the put in hockey arenas. It was so cold the staff had to provide blankets. My fellow dinners complained of the bitter cold and... More

This cidery was begun by Al Piggot, a British born teacher who loved his Somerset cider. He and his wife began their passionate venture, going so far as to use sulphur and rotten eggs as a biodegradable fungicide. He took his cider to Victoria, where he passed around his cider, until the Deputy Minister tasted it. He was granted the... More

We were impressed with the nice views of the orchard, great service, yummy warm olives, tasty squash dip and flight of cider and brandy. Prices are reasonable with quality offerings. We will return for lunch or dinner.

I wouldn't have known about this place if my friend didn't invite me to join them. It is a little hidden and remote, but it has a nice ambience. We went there for supper, and we did enjoy our food very much. They had a variety of ciders I could choose from, and they offer very fruity and sweet to... More

We were quite impressed when we visited here for lunch. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly hostess/server Nicky and she outlined the specials for us and was attentive the entire meal. We all tried the flight of 5 ciders and I was impressed that an employee took the time to describe each cider in detail at the... More

Our lunch was tasty, and the cider is excellent. My wife and I shared the clams and mussels in broth; I also had the soup and salad combination -- the salad, with blue cheese and pecans, was particularly good -- and a piece of apple pie with my coffee. The prices are on the high side, but the bistro is... More

Description
As you travel up or down Vancouver Island, stop in at our orchard bistro for lunch. Enjoy local cuisine, a large patio overlooking our orchard, and, of course, apple cider hand crafted just steps from the bistro's kitchen. Located in the middle of a working cider farm, this unique Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider pairings and seasonal menu items inspired by nearby Cowichan Valley farmers, vintners, and cheese-makers. The restaurant has two eating areas. You'll find the main room with its traditional fieldstone fireplace and spacious tables. The main restaurant also features a granite cider tasting bar - perfect for a cider and some conversation while your lunch is being prepared. Guests can also enjoy their meal on the large covered patio where you will find plenty of outdoor space to sit with friends, sip coffee, or sample ciders and local wines.
