I had the goulash soup and the pan fried Hake with chips and my spouse the steak with boiled potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and spinach. The Guinness was cold and smooth, the food very hot and very good, service was attentive and friendly. With football...playing on the TV in the connected pub it couldn’t feel more authentic. If somehow I’m ever this way again I’d certainly stop!More

What a lovely welcome and fabulous food, we loved it here. The pub is a welcome stop in the Wicklow Mountains.

Such generous restaurant owners! My husband and I arrived late on Sunday evening without reservations and yet they squeezed us in for dinner. Seating us at a table with a warm welcome, right next to the cozy fireplace. Delicious Irish stew and thick slices of...warm yummy bread. And, fine Guiness, of course. Thank you!More

Staff friendly but food overpriced and moderate. €25.50 for hake, chips and what was called salad. The fish was ok but the chips tasted like poor quality frozen food and the salad was awful. I wouldn't go there again.

My brother Gerry and I booked the Roundwood Inn for our Easter Sunday lunch. It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. When we arrived we received a warm welcome from Helen who is both kind and a consummate professional. Helen brought us to our...table and proceeded to present with the many and varied menu options. To be honest the challenge was what to choose!! I started with a perennial favourite seafood soup and Gerry had the vegetable broth. Both were served piping hot and with deluxe home baked brown bread. We both savoured our dishes and not one drop remained. The main event for me was Roast Wicklow lamb with all the trimmings. The lamb was so tender absolutely melt in the mouth. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and had a definitive organic flavour. Both Gerry and I asked for stuffing and the portion was generous and the stuffing was really tasty.Delish. Gerry had the turkey schnitzel and he commented absolutely delicious. Quantity is always generous at the Roundwood Inn but even so we were determined to enjoy dessert ( It is Easter Sunday after all). After a little deliberation Ger settled on the meringue with butter scotch sauce and I chose the Baileys gateau. I remarked to Helen that the Baker had been generous with the Baileys and she smiled and said that was me.The gateau was light and so the combination of this with the generous amount of Baileys meant it was most enjoyable indeed. The white wine recommended by Helen proved a perfect accompaniment to the meal and I finished with a Creme de Menthe which was perfectly made. Overall Gerry and I would like to thank HELEN MICHAEL and all the lovely staff at ROUNDWOOD INN for their welcome delicious food and lovely atmosphere. It really made our Easter Sunday special. I have NO HESITATION in recommending ROUNDWOOD INN and I look forward to the pleasure of another visit there very soon.More

I visited the Roundwood Inn with my brother on Jan 1st 2023. I have been here many times before. We were warmly greeted by Helen who brought us into the warm restaurant where the beautiful open fire was lit. Helen explained all the menu options...and showed us the specials board. I started with the seafood soup which was full to the brim with delicious seafood and was creamy. It was accompanied by tasty homemade brown bread. My brother had the vegetable soup and said it was delicious. My main course was roast goose with plenty of melt in the mouth stuff apple sauce which was yummy and all the trimmings. The goose was succulent and tender and was obviously well prepared. My brother had turkey schnitzel and praised the quality of his dish. For dessert I opted for ice cream and butter scotch sauce and my brother had traditional Christmas pudding which he said was home baked ( He knows his Christmas pudding)!! To end my brother had tea and I had a lovely strong cappucino. Being New year's day I treated myself to a creme de menthe at the end. I was very impressed with this as it was authentically French. I should add that Helen recommended a glass of red French merlot and it was one of the fruitiest I have ever tasted. In my opinion the Roundwood Inn offers warm hospitality excellent home cooked food all served in the appealing ambience of a traditional Inn. We both enjoyed our meal very much and I would confidently recommend it to everyone. Looking forward to my next visit already. Thank you Helen and all your staffMore

The food quality is definitely designed and presented with the passing tourist in mind only and not the repeat customer. Food service was slow and when the order did arrive what was laid before me was utterly shameful. Overcooked and flavourless chicken accompanied by dry...burnt chips. To add colour, and some element of hydration to the otherwise parched plate, a side order of coleslaw was lumped on but that tasted no better. Regrettably, no amount of vinegar could save this dish and not even the on-site cat would chance a morcel when given it. To add further insult, I was charged €20 for the pleasure. The menu selection is frankly overpriced, underwhelming and the meals are embarssingly bad! If you want a real life experience of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares before the improvement this is the place for you. Otherwise, save your money and your tastebuds and go elsewhere.More

Superb food in a pub setting. Unusually this pub restaurant features food with a slightly German twist inspired by it's original owner and chef. While the pub section is very traditional, and good, there are two specific eating areas one casual and the other in...the main restaurant. We ate here twice in November and the food was top class every time. Really excellent fish soup, sublime lobster bisque, proper roll mop herrings (no hint of acidity), traditional winter salad, perfect chips, and perfectly poached salmon were amongst the delights. There is something absolutely timeless about the Roundwood Inn, right now it might appear slightly out of fashion but quality wins out every time and I highly recommend it.More

We just had a very wonderful and memorable experience here today. The lady Helen and another gentleman could not have been more accommodating. We have 2 little girls 3 and 6 and due to Covid restrictions we had to eat outside. It had been raining...and Helen brought out clean towels and warm tea for us. When we ordered lunch it poured rain and herself and colleague rushed to moved us to a shelters area. Helping out coats on our girls. The food was delicious the girls were spoiled and the surroundings were glorious even in the rain. I could not recommend somewhere better. Super pleasant and enjoyable lunch.More
