Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So so bad.. Can't believe a place like this still exists . Not very clean. One poor lad trying to clear tables and take orders and waiting so long for food . I ordered quiche disgusting one out of a box and tiny and a...salad which mainly consisted of a huge plate of Coleslaw. The tea was cold by the time the food arrived . The tea pot needed the bin lid didn't even close and the tea spilt all over the table . We couldn't leave this place quick enough but had to wait ages to pay !More

Only one table was being occupied when we arrived. However 3 others were full of dirty dishes. We had sausage rolls and salad. Neither were good and the salad was NOT fresh. The toilets were the major fault. Not clean and in poor condition. Food...prepared in this environment is poor practice.More

Passing through today and dropped in for something to eat. Yet again I have to say the food was top class. I ordered a simple meal of fried eggs bacon and hand cut chips Bacon was cooked to perfection along with the eggs and also...the hand cut chips were to die for. Actually hand cut and that was clear to see. For a small dessert I ordered a fresh scone with jam and fresh cream. Yep first class again. Hot, fresh and a proper scone size wise. The staff are excellent and whilst there a customers small children were given some marshmallows to take away free .Nice touch that and unusual in todays times. If anyone rates this this poorly they must think McDonalds is a great place to eat. Enough said as the person cooking the food is a qualified Chef .And a good one.More

We just stumbled upon this bistro and it really was a find. We were so cold and hungry having done a bracing walk on Djouce. We got a lovely warm welcome and our food and coffee was just lovely. Our waitress was so friendly and...efficient. The place isn’t posh which makes it possible to go in with walking shoes.More

Tried breakfast here with my son this morning as the roundwood pub that do great food was closed. The breakfast was so so bad simply inedible. It is hard to imagine the incompetence of the individual in the kitchen ( who was not wearing a...mask) to send this type of stuff out to the customer. OMG AVOID THIS PLACEMore

For 9e you get a feed like no other. Pancakes are big, thick and fluffy, plenty of maple syrup and cream to go with it. Delicious. Will be back!

Overall, very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. They seem to have made absolutely zero effort on any covid19 guidelines. The cafe and especially the bathroom is grimy and dirty. Food was mediocre at best. Won't be going back

Just stopped here for a coffee one day, and was happy with the experience. There is plenty of seating inside and a small number of tables and chairs outside. The friendly welcome of the girl who served me left a good impression and motivated me...to write the review. The coffee was pretty good too. A good choice on the menu and Sunday roast at the weekend. I’ll try something more substantial next time, as I remember from previous visit, that they do great homemade chips!!🙂More

I had the blueberry pancakes and a chai latte. Both were delicious and I am sad I only got to eat here one time! Would recommend!

I called in today with two friends for a light lunch/very late breakfast. It had been my second visit to this Cafe as I was impressed with my first visit. It is a busy place and understandable to see why. The mix of people were...from local people, hill walkers and cyclists and my group which were in need of good food and service after a long morning on the hills. If you are really hungry I would advise the full breakfast. It is a full breakfast and I mean a real bellybuster.Extremely tasty as all ingredients,I believe are sourced locally and were cooked to perfection. On my visit today I got the french toast to try it out for a change. The dish was presented with fried banana, lovely crispy bacon, maple syrup and fresh cream. The french toast was done to perfection and I cannot remember the last time I tasted as good. The Chef obviously has a flair for good food and presentation. The Cafe is open plan and the kitchen likewise so you can see your food being prepared. The Staff are very smiling and attentive. Nice to see that as it shows to me a well run happy place to be a part of. The decor is warm and welcoming and again the food was excellent today. Ill be back every time I will be in the locality without a doubt.More

Food was great when it eventually arrived after 45 mins. Asked for water twice and the waitress brought out one glass and said she would be back in a minute with more glasses. She forgot again. It was like the last supper sharing the one...glass between us.More

Horrible lunch here. I only regret not complaining. No one should have served the food it was so awful. Poorly managed and doubt the chef has any training. Staff look like they hate working there. Not cosy or clean. Disappointing stop off. Avoid.

This is a very poorly run establishment......the floor was filthy and the chair and table legs were dirty with black gunge on them......the door doesn't close properly so there is an unpleasant breeze.......and we have not got to the food yet !!!!!! My dining companion...had a misshapen scone and a latte, then I made the mistake of ordering the blueberry pancakes.......and what a long mistake that was........I must have waited at least 30 minutes for them to finally appear and they were certainly not worth the wait......they were far too thickly made and burnt black on the underside !!!! on paying the bill I was not charged for them and was informed that the thick pancakes are Canadian 'style'....really ????? How some reviewers state the food here is good is astonishing !!!...what I saw was crude looking and poorly presented and all after a long wait !!! This place needs a radical overhaul ,only one person appears to do the actual cooking.......yet there are a large number of counter waiting staff who do not appear particularly interested in serving etc.... Overall an unpleasant experience !!! if you need a coffee etc the nearby grocery shop will more than suffice.More
